Question 08 Civic Changes

I heard a rumour this weekend that on the 08 model they are moving the rear spoiler down the tailgate and installing a rear wiper

Has anyone else heard of anything for the 08 model??

Cheque Book?

Credit Card!

Just think of all those Air Miles!

Not so sure about that lower rear wing though.

Not sure I could handle all that extra light entering the cabin!

Pure speculation - but perhaps the more scratch resistant dash (if it actually exists) that we are hearing about will be in the -08s.

I will quiz my dealer when I pick-up my car next week to see if he knows anything about the ī-08s.

I was actually quite surprised about how little the dealer knew about some aspects of the car.

When I presented the photo from here of the fuel filler spring clip he had no knowledge of it, or was being deliberately coy about it?

I think they know, but keep quiet. They don't want people saying 'Oh, well in that case I'll wait a bit'. They have a lot of current spec cars to shift!!

Also, if they admit to knowing of a modification it means they probably knew about a problem!

I say it depends on the dealer.

The dealer I did buy from took a very qualified and sensible attitude when he realised I actually knew a thing or two about cars and this one in particular. When I said "there have been a few recalls" he said "yes, like the metal bracket for the fuel filler".

Another place I visited said "No, there have never been any problems at all."

I donīt know what I dislike most, dishonesty or incompetence.
But a dealer that displays neither is preferable.
Of course they are in it for the money, but donīt try to bull-sĪ&# some-one who knows what they are talking about.

Rant over.

I would be very surprised to see Honda change the design to incorporate a wiper after the fuss they made over it in the first place.

Plus the fact that it DOES NOT need a wiper.

agree!!
I like the Civ as it is! there are lot of other cars where the visibility is even more poor than on the Civ. Actually parking is not a problem for me.. i have already got used to it + I am very careful

Rear spoiler moving???
As it's only on the CTR except for the optional one, not much movement expected there.
Rear wiper!
Well I'm sure some would like one, but as I don't think Honda would re-design the rear screen to fit one.

Being space age in design, if they were to implement a rear wiper I hope they don't opt for the bog standard semi circular swipe.

A mechanism that allows the wiper to stay vertical and wipes in straight sweeps would be novel.

I'm also with the brigade that particularly doesn't want one, I never turn round to reverse and once you get moving the aerodynamics do seem to shift any excess wet stuff.

Even if Honda do back down and put a rear wiper on
I can't see them doing it for the 08 model
more likely the 09 model if at all

The only time I could do with a rear wiper is when its dark and raining, I can think of far better improvements to make first before they install a rear wiper.

Can't see a rear wiper being added at all on this generation of Civic.
Given the design cues on this one I'd expect the next one to be in a similar vain, and probably so aerodynamic that it won't have one either. More like having radar driving and rear vision cameras.

What you meant to have said was that YOU think it doesn't need a wiper.

I do, many others do.

If it had one you wouldn't need to use it any way if you didn't want to.

I'm not dim, I'm not a loony, The Space Ship needs a wiper!

Charles, I've just given my rear screen (and the side windows) three coats of the new Meguiars 'Quik Wax' I've just bought.

I've never felt the glass so smooth. Hope it works well in the rain.
