...speaking of waiting for delivery! Dealer rang today to say the car had arrived early this morning, and had already been in the workshop! They've just the camera to fit, so we can collect Saturday!

Can't wait!

I ordered a 1.8 SE i-Shift in Black from Nortonway on 21st April... it's arrived today at the Dealers so I should get by next Friday! "Only" 3 months, but their forecast date was spot on ... hope it's worth the wait!

.... Mine's shown up too, arrived at the dealer's last night, collecting it on Saturday Morning, you can tell its the end of the month bit of a queue for the handovers. I suppose the ordering system does work after all ....

Banzai, I collected mine from Norton Way in Welwyn, make sure you check the car really well, there were lots of silly little things they forgot to do on mine, like remove the plastic protection on the inside. They had also left marks on the car from where the protective strips had been taken off. They were great about it and put it right in no time. I also had dusty footprints all over the interior where they obviously stood on the seats etc when preparing it.

Thanks Richie, just printed off the various collecting new car guides

Elfa, having read the post again I realise why you asked the question, I think I meant lay on the seats rather than stand on, although I did have a good array of footprints in the well under the false boot floor, obviously a short arse was trying to clean the inside of the rear window.

You'd think they would be able to prepare a vehicle, without making a further mess.

I'm still waiting to get the drivers door armrest replaced, it was scratched and they forgot to replace it when it went back the first time, they have said they will do it at the first service. I am not sure I want them to service it though.

Thanks richierich! I'll make sure I inspect the interior ... also printed out the "known fault checklist" from the forum - this site rules!

Nortonway seemed very professional with the test drive, but have to admit I've been dealing with their corporate sales / demo team - so hope they can provide the same level of service to all.

I got mine from the corporate sales team. Is it Welwyn you are getting it from, if so and the lady who does the handover is Lucy Small tell her I said hello, she will probably remember, I was a pain in the arse. If you collect it on a Saturday expect to wait, the normal sales guys won't want to be anywhere near you, I was disgusted, they had to get Lucy in on her day off to do the handover, none of the sales guys would do it. When I was waiting I asked one what the hold up was, I was basically told as it was corporate sales they had to get corporate to do the handover, they were busy and were expecting customers. What I heard was "this is a corporate sale, I can't earn commission from your sale so you can f**k off".

I think it's the same dealer, but the car is being delivered to my office next Fri from Letchworth I think... a few more miles on the clock!

I'm shocked by the attitude of the regular sales guy... though it reminds me of the Alan Day Honda Dealership in Edgware. I called them to arrange a test drive... the guy said "If you're not intending on buying the car on the day, don't bother turning up. We've got other customers to show". He called me a week later to ask if I was still interested... so I told him what I thought of his attitude and said I just placed an order with Nortonway - that'll learn em

I am having similar problems with dealer attitudes.

I guess I am lucky to be part of the Honda Connections scheme - A discount for Honda employees and friends. All is well, until you mention this to the dealer - Their face actually drops, and the lack of interest is visible. I guess they are making nearly zero profit in selling a car this way.

So much so, that I have lost a little interest in getting a Civic now. It seems that dealers are very motivated by profit, and do not look at the longer term.

My local dealer has let me down on 2 previous occasions, with promised phone calls not happening. If he does not call by tomorrow, then that will be the third. I reckon a call to the Honda employees sales team could be in order. I am sure they would not be happy with this poor service.

I had the same sort of problem getting a test drive when I told them it was going to be a company car via Leaseplan took 3 weeks and 6 phonecalls to get one

Have a delivery date for the first time

Having been nearly 8 weeks without a delivery date I finally have one for the first week in October so it looks like the 07 models are filtering through.

So two more months of the 307 1.6LX "beast"....Still, it is a nice "boat" so may take it sailing whislt the weather is sunny. Plus didn't realise the leather seats were heated in the civic so may need 'em by the time I get the car....

My dealer has been excellent as usual though so no complaints.

I always look after who ever comes into the showroom, connections, co car, anyone.

One thing that you have to bear in mind regarding company car drivers and a local dealer is that you are asking some one to spend an hour or two with you in the plain knowledge that you are not going to buy any thing from them whatsoever.

You must remember that on a basic wage of £100 to £200 pounds a week, and working on commision the time could be considrered wasted by the sales person.

Its not the general attitude in the dealer network, but putting the shoe on the other foot is a good idea before you become too critical.

There is nothing worse for someone working on a comission only basis than to see one of their test drives pull up in another dealers car, and thank them for the three test drives, brochure and six hours of fruitless labour

I would definately agree Martin, I tried to make it as clear as possible when I walked in that it would be a company car and that if anyone else came in to just leave me alone and deal with them. The nicest response was from a Toyota garage, he explained he would give me all the information I needed, but could not spend the time with me, because of the fact that he could miss a private sale, but if I could persuade my lease company to buy from them he would help me, and give me £50 of M & S vouchers. I figured he was honest but fair.

Yep, same boat exactly

And to be fair, my local dlr still took me out for a test drive in a 1.8 EX

This then lead to a 24Hr testdrive (organised via Lease co, not from local dlr)

But then I had a crisis panic attack - and my local dlr again sprang to my aid, taking me out for a quick spin in the 2.2

Above and beyond I think - I was willing to take his word for it (he was driving round in a 2.2 himself at the time) that acceleration was at least as good as the 1.8

Instead he chucked me the keys and said I could take it for a quick spin as he was on lunch.

Top bloke, well impressed.

Unfortunately, nothing I could do to get the order placed with them, but I did make a point of writing to the dlr principle, thanking them and the salesman in particular.
