Here is a colour coded Type S in Vivid Blue.
Donīt think it has the mud guards though.

Quite subtle. I had expected bigger ones, but they do the job so I'm happy.

The trim overhangs enough to act as a mud guard. I would not fit them, particularly colour coded. IMO they would be a waste of time and look naf

Each to his own I suppose. Have you actually seen Civic mudguards fitted?

I considered having them on my typeS, but the dealer actually suggested I didn't fit them as they can ground out on speed humps etc, and most end up being torn off.

They are an easy fit and come up on Ebay quite regularly.

The mudflaps for the Type S are much shorter than the ones for the 5 door. Never had a problem with the mudflaps catching on speed humps, although the flaps under the front bumper do scrape on speed humps if I approach them too quickly.

I have the mudflaps on my Type S as they were thrown in for free.

See my earlier thread for a picture of the back mudflaps (The fronts are a similar length)

Are These The Smallest Mudflaps In The World ?

I wondered if you had only seen a picture of them or a set in real life - guess I should be clearer with my questions.

Everyone is free to have and express their opinions - personally I would rather reduce the mud and crap spraying up the sides of the car as I think that spoils the looks - particulary if you have a black car. (Like wot I have.)

I've always had the flaps for the same reason, if it helps any stones or the like damaging the paintwork and helps prevent those mudlines that appear.

In reality, the sill and existing trim blocks a lot of muck being thrown up already (more than any car I have seen), the small mudguards will do very little to improve that. At Ģ50 a pair, you have to ask if its cost effective. IMO it isnt
Good luck with them

It is if you get your stealer to throw them in for free!

I had them put on my 1.8es. They're pretty much the same as the ones that go on the accord. Very subtle... i.e. not big floppy rubber flaps Of course the trim on my car is not painted, so I couldn't say how they'd look painted up. I like 'em anyway.

There's some pics in my thread on the gallery forum --> My 1.8 ES :)
Better pics towards the end of the thread - cleaner car and better light!

I got mine for free as well.

Would I have paid for them - probably not. Although the side of the car does stay reasonably clean with them - I think particularly on the Type S, that the mudflaps fill in the space near the sill where the wing starts to curve inwards, before flaring out again at the side skirt. The wheels on the Civic(s) in general are pretty well enclosed though.

Will they protect against stone chips & dirt from hitting the side of the car - They might, and they might not. Just the same as having the side protection strips - they won't protect against every door that might be opened against you, but then again, they might.

It's very much a case of personal taste, and attitude. I like how my car looks with the door protectors and mudflaps, other people won't.

Anthony.
Pulled up behind a 5 door recently before it turned off at the next junction, and was immediately struck by somehow the rear of the car looking more 'complete'.I realised as it left that it was the mudflaps which were the distinguishing feature.

I always think the width of the rear track of the 5 door doesnt really look the part compared to the rest of the car's appearance.I thought the plastic mudflaps on the Civic I followed improved its appearance in that respect.Having subsequently checked Honda's asking price, yes £100 for the set,I've decided I'm going to live quite happily with the car as it is.Looked good though
