Cost of first service, dealer made me an offer on buying a 3 service pack
Been quoted 165 for first service. According to the dealer its a standard price across all honda garages.
They also offered me a deal the next 3 services (inc this one) for £395. which is a good price but a great deal lower than £671 she said they should cost. Since the prices of services is fixed how can they do this ? I cant see the catch at the moment if the deal is it as good as it seems The dealer is stratstone in leeds, and i have a civic 2.2 tdi ES cheers Andy |

Hi Dinalli,
I know Honda offer a five year service for £500 on servicing a petrol engine, when the car is new. I don't think the service costs are fixed, I have my Civic booked in in a few weeks and the first service is costing me £145 inc VAT, parts and labour. However saying this you are still saving at least £40 over the three services and I assume the second and third are a little more expensive, so maybe even more!!!! Just noticed you have a diesel I think this is even more expensive to service so maybe the above is a load of rubbish!! Doh.. I really must learn to read properly. Stratstone Honda in Leeds is where i bought my 1.8 EX, they offered me the same deal of £395 for 3 years sevicing, meaning the 12,24 and 36 mile service intervals would be taken care of in this deal, which is a good saving on individual service bills. My one and only point is, I was led to believe this deal is for the petrol 1.8 civic models and that 2.2 TDI may be more expensive? I could be wrong but just check! |

Just a thought - based on Lady Dosser losing 50 or 60 quid on a pre-paid Spa day in some daft gym thing when the aforementioned daft gym thing went bust before her booked day,
If you pre-pay the dealer for servicing could you claim it from another dealer if the first one went down the swannie? I would guess that you would be OK with the Honda Happiness thing, assuming the contract is with Honda, but 3 years can be a long time in the car dealer game. |

Yeah i was thinking about what happens if they go bust, its not a honda deal as they stated i can sell it on with the car, or keep using it with a different car.
They did state that the cost of the 24 month service would be 280 quid. So its almost like you get the third one free. I will have a word with them when the car goes in on friday. |
