If you p/x it, you'll lose more than if selling privately, since the dealers can sell new ones all day long.
Drive the deal shows a new EX (not leather or SR, whatever that is) as £17561 - if a dealer gave you £15K, you should take it. Joe Punter will perhaps give you up to £16,250 for it privately. |

I changed from a 1.8ES to a 1.8EX with glass roof. The ES had 21,000 on the clock and was 16 months old at the time of the change. Won't bore you with why I changed early but I had to add £6,000 to change. Reckon that was £3,000 'loss' on the ES, the rest being the extra cost of the EX [with glass roof]. Thought therefore that I lost between £1,000 and £1,500 as soon as I drove it off the forecourt. I don't think thats bad. Some say you loose 'thousands', but thats not my experience.
Also all well and good selling private, but what private punter has that kind of money - and if they have, won't they want to have the reassurance of buying form a Dealer? |

I had a wiff of petrol fumes last week and thought about changing my 2.2 ES, spec below for a Golf GTi on a forecourt at £14995, was offered £14k for mine. Also looked at a BMW 525d Listing at £17k and was offered £12.5k. Paid £18.1k in March, now 15k miles.

Well I traded my EX red as well in May it was 8 months old got over a grand off new so paid £17200 and got £14600 trading in for my Type R but had done 20000 miles so thought it wasnt bad, would be better private sale but like someone else has said its too new and too much money for private sale unless you find someone on here wanting a bargain
