Gap Insurance

Thought I would just mention my experience regarding Gap Insurance. This covers the difference between your Insurance Company pay-off and the cost of replacing.

Honda quoted me almost £400 but agreed to do it for £174 to match the quote I showed them.

This tip was passed to me, so I pass it on having saved around £226.

Have a look at:

www.click4gap.co.uk

Print the quote and save enough for TWO space saver wheels with enough left for a key ring, or two.

Thanks for posting this; I pulled out my vehicle order form on reading this and noted I'd been charged £349 for the gap insurance. A quote from the website comes in at half this price for return to invoice cover.

I'll try my luck at rejecting their price this week as I've yet to sign the credit agreement.

When I first placed my order for my civic they told me about the GAP insurance which I agreed to having, they told me it was £399 payable over 12 months interest free. I picked the car up 12 weeks later and the GAP insurance wasnt mentioned and I didnt have no written proof of me buying it so I checked on the internet. It quoted me £164, so I went with that, got a phone call from Honda about 2 weeks later asking for the cash for it. I told them I had already bought it from somewhere else and they didn't sound happy. but if I had an accident in those 2 weeks I wouldn't of been able to claim....that soon shut him up

Well, I didn't get them to reduce the price of their gap insurance quote, but pressing them on the significantly cheaper price I was quoted at Click4-gap did get me a free service thrown in.

I owe you one allan40alt.

Great tip thanks - told my dealer I'd think about it but I've got a bit of bargaining power now thanks! It's a captive market here in Northern Ireland though so discounts are hard to get. The first dealer I went to made me a great "offer" of full list price for the Civic and all extras, and could only give me bottom book price less 800 quid for my part-ex.... oh and finance at 14.9% APR. Oh, they're losing their Honda franchise soon too I discovered a week later

Could you not get better APR with a car loan from a bank? But I guess then the dealers price would be worse. They make back any loss from discounts/part-ex on the interest.

I just went to a better Honda dealer who matched the best bank APR and also gave me a good part-ex price and a bit of discount on the list price as well. Just wish I had my car now to drive! October seems a long way away....

My dealer would not match the £230 quote I got, they said it was £400 and out of that they only make £80.

Collect mine next week so will buy it on line.

Gee, my heart bleeds for them, perhaps we should offer them more than 20% profit for filling in a form Click the image to open in full size.

That is good that you have a sponser, I just had a look at their site, its too late for me to buy a policy as the car has to be less than 3 months old

I spoke to the director about this earlier, and they are putting together a policy which will protect your car, even beyond the 90 day policy limit.
