advice please!! looking for a civic type s diesel

hi guys and gals on this forum!!
I currently have a fabia vrs and am looking to buy a used type s diesel.
Im wondering if this is a far better car than mine as I havent driven the diesel yet. Had a go in the type r during the summer but I didnt like how you had to floor ir to get power as Im used to diesel power!!
my fabia is mapped to 190bhp so Im hoping to get something with a good deal of mid range power and the good looks of the type r.
Am I making the right choice?? I need a much bigger boot than the fabia now and a bit more interior space.
Last question!!!
Any Ideas how much an 06 type s diesel will set me back and any good dealers in sunny scotland???

many thanks.

It's a Honda Mate , so no contest.
Boot space, -- you will get your house in there, but not the kitchen sink, if you buy the spare wheel option.
Get it mapped and you will have 166 + bhp and thats enough, coz its a Honda engine see
It will go all day, without having to change gear, as the pull is great in all gears.
Needless to say, I have one -- 3 week old Civic Type S GT. 2.2 diesel, with Sat Nav and a few other bits.

Hi Dave

never had a fabia, so can't directly compare - but I can say that I doubt very much if you'll be disapointed with the Civ

and even more so after a visit to Celtic or SuperChips

check out the Wiki (delaer section) to find a good one local to you

I owned a FAbia vRS until last year. Loved the car and replaced that with a BMW 320D. I have now replaced that with the civic 2.2

The Civic drives a lot smoother than the Fabia. The power delivery on the Fabia felt like there was nothing at first then... wham. The civic feels more progressive, less coarse sounding engine and overall a better feel to the car.

I am sure you will not be disappointed

Go to Advanced Search here

Honda (UK) - Cars - Used - Vehicle Search

then select Civic, 3 door Body style, Diesel fuel, 2.2 engine, 06 to 06 year, up to £16K Price range, enter your postcode and all will be revealed! I found my last 2 cars this way.

Just for you info you won't get an 06 example

The type S was only launched in Jan 2007 although some did have their cars in December 2006 (which was weird)
pehaps not much help but worth knowing

I did a search using the link above and found several 2006 Type S diesel cars registered back to August 2006?

That's really strange. Chiswick Honda are showing 3 Type S GT Diesels all silver with almost consecutive "06" plates, 6, 11 & 17K registered on 18th August 2006! These seem to be the earliest I can find for sale.

I didn't believe this until I looked at the Used Car site.
I would be wary of these cars, they must have been the first off the production line and must have been press cars or some kind of test cars for Honda. I would check them out very carefully before buying one.

I think the first Type S cars were released to the public at the end of November 2006, and at that time most dealers didn't have a demo available for driving although they had them in the showroom. The official launch was meant to have been at the beginning of January 2007 but cars were already coming from the factory so Honda were kind enough to give them to their owners.

I had a fabia v/rs remapped 220bhp much more fun to drive no question.
If its interior and boot room you need then for that reason the civic is a better car.

This is the picture of an 06 reg Type S from the Honda Used Car website. Didn't believe it myself until I saw it.
The reg starts OX06, does that mean the car was registered in the Swindon area?

Yes that's def an ex 'Honda' Car. All Honda Swindon plant registered cars are prefix OX or OY. The town is swarming in them but Swindon Dealer cars are RF & RY

Also Type S production didn't start until the October so anything registered August is an ex press or similair car. Does not mean it's a bad car as it will have been preped with a fine toothed comb but may have had a little harder start in life. Makes sence they are being sold through Chiswick as well.
