Think I Got A Great Deal on 1.8 Sport

Just ordered a 1.8 Sport in Milano Red, brand new 57 plate and should be delivered next week.

I had been looking for a Sport in Galaxy Grey and made one or two tentative enquiries at dealerships about prices and part ex values for my 05 Jazz SE.

Yesterday one of the dealers rang me and said they had 3 Sports in red available at £2000 off list price!

Went along today with the Jazz expecting to be offered a paltry part-ex price and his first offer was within £25 of what I would have accepted in a private sale !!!

Needless to say I drove a hard bargain and insisted on him upping his offer by £25, my wife was cringing at my negotiating skills.

I had to get him to confirm in writing that I could have the Sport for £13727. I even got the carpet mats thrown in and he agreed to let me take the car tax off the Jazz, I was getting the hang of this negotiating business.

Should pick it up 1st Oct all being well.

£13727 for a brand new Sport, I have seen dealers asking more than that for year old ones, and the cheapest I could find for a new on the t'interweb was £14457 (Drivethedeal)!

Am I a happy bunny.

Good on you.
I am a great believer in a haggle and its fun.
Whenever I go into G.B's biggest electrical retailer and spend over £300, I always ask the salesman -- " So what's my freebie then".
Always come out with something.
Our kid is worse than me, she purchased a Sony laptop a few months back and came out with Hoover vacuum cleaner as well.

Re: Deal on 5 door Civic
Neil, thanks for the reply, I was really hoping to take advantage of the £750 Honda contribution so it looks like I will have to get my skates on and try and find a dealer with the car I want in stock and who is willing to do me a decent deal before the end of the month.

If I don't get sorted before the Honda offer ends I will bear you in mind.

Thanks again.

Paul

PS, any idea how much I could expect to get in part-ex for the Jazz?

The mileage on the Jazz was 17500 and we settled on a part ex price of £7000 which I was more than happy with seeing as it is in dire need of two front tyres and has a slight ding in the rear hatch. Apart from that though it was in excellent condition.

Good luck.

The first offer I had was from the garage who suppled the car and they only bid £6500. Between you and me I would have been more than happy with £6900 (but don't tell anyone).

If its any help I recently part exchanged my 2004 54 SE CVT-7 27K miles (pre facelift model) a week before the service & MOT was due but in perfect condition, for £6450. On its original front pads but nothing else needed.
