Just about to order a new civic

Hello all this is my first post.

We are about to sell our toyota rav 4 and get a honda civic, 2.2 Cdti EX Diesel we are getting a few extras after reading some posts on here, like the reversing camera, leather seats plus the panoramic roof and boot liner and mud flaps.

We have got a price without any extras for this model in black for £17449 from uk car brokers. Our dealer wants £18849 do you think it is worth asking the dealer to see if he will match this price or will he tell us to bugger off. Are there any other extras we should be getting as i like the ambient lights but don't think it is worth the £200 for a few lights.

Love the new civic and can't wait till we are driving one.

Welcome aboard - great choice of spec

It's always worth asking the dlr to price match, but that is quite a big discount for them to swallow...

Whilst a few people on here have managed to get the dlr close to online prices, it can rather depend on how the dlr is doing towards month end targets, how many extras you order, how much caffine was in their coffee...

Whilst buying online is indeed an option, you may want to consider some potential downsides - possibly the biggest one of which is that you can't inspect the car prior to delivery, and your local dlr isn't likely to want to fix any issues you may find when it turns up on a low loader or has been driven 200miles to get to you.
Obviously the local dlr will still be happy to service and fix warranty issues, but if (say) it turns up without a reversing camera...

very best of luck, and let us know how you get on!

Thanks for the advice

We ordered our rav through a broker and picked it up from a toyota garage in croydon we got to inspect that one and we got treated the same as if we had brought it from there. This one is Free delivery so i imagine we won't get to check it out first. We have found one £100 cheaper and we will have to pick it up from nottingham but that is not too bad a drive from Peterborough plus my wifes parents live there.

This forum is wicked loads of great advice.

Hi, if you don't ask you don't get !!

The way I read it, your dealer is offering just £200 discount on a 19 grand car. He wouldn't be my dealer with that kind of offer.

He is £1400 quid away from the broker price, so if he doesn't get a lot closer, walk away and go to the next dealer, and the next and so on. Unless of course you have a lot more disposable income than me, in which case you may not be bothered about the £1400.

My advice would be to wait nearer the month end and walk in and make it clear you are there to sign on the dotted line there and then if they hit the right price but you are equally determined to walk away if they don't.

Good luck.

That's a very quick delivery time (almost as quick as mine!) also a better deal than mine!

Great choice of car - you will love it (I have just completed my first week with mine and it is absolute heaven! - the best choice I have made in many years!)

i didnt think you would find 'marshalls of peterborough (honda)' to be a good price, the most expensive of all the dealers i got a quote from (about 15) and i work within the marshall group.
they actually tried to tell me that all the other dealers were loosing money.
well that how they make a living isn't it !!!!

Yeah they are not that great, they were the most expensive when we got our toyota too, shame as marshalls run most of the garages in that area.
