Thumbs up About to order this

Hi there after looking around I have am Just about to place an order for a 2.2 Type S GT in Milano Red and I am thinking about the following options:

> Rear Spolier
> Blades
> Type R grill
> iPod kit
> Co Axial speakers
> Auto dimming mirror
> Parking sensors
> Sun Shades

What do you folks think, are any of these a waste of money? (by the way it's a company car)

Cheers

If its not your money and the company will strech to it, then get it all.

To be honest the Ipod kit is, in my opinion, a waste of money, do a search on here there is loads of reading on the Ipod.

But like Angie4m says if it's a company car get the lot!!!

You will usually pay income tax on the benefit based on the full list price of the car including all options. You pay this as long as you have the car so it might need some thinking about!

good call!

> Rear Spolier - yep - though I thought this was standard on the S? Unless you mean the R spoiler, in which case , but bear it mind it will have to be glued on which may be an issue when you have to give it back...
> Blades - yep (Storms are better on a NHB though )
> Type R grill - why not!
> iPod kit - save money, don't bother - unless it's only adding a couple of quid per month to the cost
> Co Axial speakers - are half decent, but better aftermarket ones available (though that ends up as a DIY job, or one off payment). Again, if only adding a couple of quid to the lease per month, then worthwhile
> Auto dimming mirror - really wouldn't bother. The rear spolier blocks 99.9% of the lights from the car behind
> Parking sensors - good call
> Sun Shades - ditto, nice addition

But you missed off the most important upgrade...

TT is getting confused here I think. The Type S is like the 5 door Civic, so the additional rear spoiler is the small colour coded one, and it looks very nice. But the Type R one does fit, and looks the dogs danglies.

> Blades

Very good choice

> Type R grill

I personally think the car looks better with the standard grill, it gives the car the spaceship look.

> iPod kit

It apparently has a very limited functionality, check the iPod section of the forum for others views.

> Auto dimming mirror

Not really needed, the split in the rear screen blocks light from the following headlights very effectively.

> Parking sensors

Nice to have, but not essential

> Sun Shades

Another nice to have.

> Rear Spolier
- Matter of taste, personally I can do with out.

> Blades
- Oh yeah!

> Type R grill
- I prefer the standard. Agree with Foggy about the spaceship look.

> iPod kit
- VERY limited functionallity. I took it off my list when I realised just how limited it was.

> Co Axial speakers
- After market stuff better and more value for money, but as it is a company car...

> Auto dimming mirror
- Never felt I needed one in any car and as the others say, you won´t see many lights thanks to the spoiler (even standard) anyway.

> Parking sensors
- I have them. Glad I do. Go for them.

> Sun Shades
- Why not?

Have a think about the blue footwell lighting.
I went for that instead of i-pod.
Very happy with that choice.

You can buy an actual Type R for the price of all that you mentioned above (car + additional equipment)

Ipod kit would be the only thing I'd remove from that list.

I have the reversing sensors and they're really good, especially as the rear visibility isn't the best.

I'm guessing as this a company car that he maybe doing a good few miles a year hence why he's going for the diesel.

Granted I'm not a fan of people putting mods onto cars froma higher spec model, but if it what he wants then he should go for it.

I would dunp the iPod connector too. Mines is coming with one as it was offered for free (don't have an iPod tho and neither do I intend to get one either) You can get a few MP3s (about 143 for me) on a CD and use them in the CD player

Thanks for all the replies folks; lots of valid feedback.

I do about 30k miles a year so the 2.2 is a must really due to the fuel consumption otherwise the Type R would be on the shopping list. Looks are a personal thing I know, but i'm not that keen on the clear front hence the TR grill.

Interesting feedback about the ipod connection. As it's a company car i'm not supposed to do any alterations other than standard accessories, so I guess I might just have to put up with it.
