Colours Colour Coding

Couple of questions regarding the colour coding of the black trim on a Type S GT.

Basically...

1) Is this actually available post- buying brand new. In other words, is all the trim removable so that (for example) a 56 model can be colour coded?

2) I've done a bit of searching and £500 seems to be the price on average. Now does this mean Honda remove your black plastic trim and spray it, or do they just fit ready sprayed trim to your car?

Yes the trims are removed rubbed down & painted . As for £500 i think thats a wee bit expensive shop around your local body shops. Colour coding will have you car looking the muts .

If your Type S is the same colour that is available in a Type R, then you could buy the Type R trim and fit it directly to your car. I would expect this would be stupidly expensive though

As illegalhunter said, the trims are removed and painted. But as to the £500, that is how much I paid, and I went to a number of local bodyshops, and this was roughly how much most of them wanted. It is worth noting that the Honda dealer wanted £850 I think to do the job.

A decent body shop will take it off, sand it down, prime it, then resand before painting.

My dealer wanted £850 for it, but been quoted £450, 500, and 610 so it's worth shopping around!

It just so happens my brothers mate is a bodyshop owner (

) so should be able to get it done for a good price.

I was just unsure if you could remove all the trim. Does it just basically clip off or is it screwed from anywhere underneath?

see the How To section (fog lights I think) for detail on removing the front bumper (which I believe you need to remove to take the trim off) - this is screwed on.

The side sections are on clips - but you slide them backwards rather than just pulling them off.

Not sure about the rest - that's as far as I got...

I've recently got my wheelarches color coded.
Paid 150 euro's for the job.

But it does make a huge difference
