Need your help!
Right guys, a couple of these issues have been covered in other topics, but my situation differs slightly.
I'm 21 years old and I'm looking to buy myself a used Civic Type S, preferably a GT. I've just got myself a job that pays around £25,000, however I have other things to pay for and don't want to end up with no extra cash each month. I've calculated that I can't really more than £14,000 and I doubt I'll drive more than 12,000 miles per year. I would gladly buy a 2006 plate. After viewing the new Civic Type S I was blown away by the interior! In my opinion, there's no other car on the market with a better interior / exterior on the market for the same price. Anyways, first question: Since I don't want to pay more than £14,000, I doubt I will be able to get the 2.2 i-CDTi model. With the exception of MPG, will I be missing out on anything by buying the petrol? Also, I noticed that when buying a car new you can pay extra to get an iPod connector fitted. Is it possible to get one of these fitted on a used model? I've tried an FM transmitter before and the sound quality is very poor. I would also like to upgrade the sound system, but I would like it done professionally because I plan on trading the car into a dealer in a couple of years time. I've booked a test drive for the 1.8 i-vtec this Thursday, can't wait! Last edited by chrisy_mac; 24th October 2007 at 02:39. |

I think that you're going to struggle a bit with your £14K limit - there are a several on ebay (few of which are 2.2s...) at £14.5 upwards
the 1.8 vs the 2.2 debate is a long one, with no winners However (not that I'm bias or anything!) the biggest thing you miss out on with the 1.8 is the ability to remap the power to 190bhp But then 1.8 owners wax lyrical about the sound of the wailing VTec... ipod lead can be retro fitted - but has very limited functionality - check out the section in here for other options Good luck! |

Hi chrisy_mac
I purchased a black 1.8 ES, 56 plate ex honda uk car 4800 miles very good condition just a few stone chips on the front right of the bumpper, from a dealer for £13500+ road tax. It took me 2 hours and 3 visits though keep grinding them down. I looked for about 3 months until i found one at the right price. Keep looking they are out there |

Wow, 9 replies already!
I'm talking about upgrading the sound system and I haven't even heard the standard one yet! Can any of you tell me a bit about this? I read somewhere about the basic new civic sound system having a subwoofer, or maybe that was the hybrid :S |

upgrading is definately worthwhile - but not by using the Honda options!
check out the ICE section for some ideas - but set yourself a £limit first |
