Time to say Goodbye :0(

I think my prized civic sport in black must go. I am soon getting a mortgage and need all the spare cash per month I can save. So I think I might try and 'downgrade' my car at the honda garage. Has anyone else done this? And what kind of loss could I expect with it being around 1.7 years old?

Quite a lot, but it all depends on mileage, condition, desirability (black is good, but 1.8 will be worth less than the 2.2), the amount of profit that can be lost on the replacement car they are selling and so on. I'd hazard that it would be around a 40% loss.

I have recently been looking at changing my 55plate 1.8 SE in average condition and have been offered no more than 9.5k(not from honda though), very disappointed really

you can get quotes form Glass's and Parkers

It is a know fact in the industry that all car take the biggest hit in the first
year slightly less in the second year and not that much in the third year

Civics hold around 48% / 49% (some models slightly better)
of its value from new ( also keep in mind that not all accesories hold their value that well) so the retained value is worked out on the basic car and
then anything extra is normally looked at on a case by case basis
