bigger xmas discount on new hondas?

I fully expect a bigger xmas discount on new civics than normal because:

1) looking around the net, ie drivethedeal, bigger honda discounts are abound.
2) The new IDTEC engine is about, soon to replace Ivtec across the range. <=== not true, since pointed out that IDtech is for deisals, thanks to Brodick and DimpleyRed
3) Noticed the increased radio and poster advertising for Honda lately?

So, if youre buying might be worth it to wait a bit, look around first.

er don't think Honda are replacing their petrol engines with diesels

th i-DTEC's (diesels) will arrive in the accord first early next year

replacing the i-CTDI engine

I can't see any serious discounting just yet with the posts here about delayed delivery.

Demand outstripping supply.

Drive the deal discount most makes of car - just look at what they are taking of the focus, megane, auris, golf etc etc

Nothing to get excited about _ don't like these sort of companies
prefer my own dealer

Wonder what would happen if you went to a dealer with that info printed off from the drivethedeal webpage. Would they try to beat it or say something like 'well if you want to trust a company like that...." etc.

Quite frankly if the dealer wants your business then they will give you the best deal they can.

I for instance got my CTR GT for £18600, on that I got 19" Rage wheels (£950), Mats (£100), iPod Conector (£230) and Diamondbirght paint protection that I never knew about (£350) for free! So all in all I saved £1657 on my car and I didn't even have to ask! In addition to this I got 1 year and 1 weeks road tax so that I didn't have to lose out on a months tax just for 7 days.

I looked on these websites that do deals on cars, but nobody ever got back to me and their waiting lists were just the same as Honda's. I prefer to deal face to face with someone when making a major purchase like this.

Brodick youre absolutely right. However, before i got my own rarther decent deal on a new honda last month, i had visited 12 dealerships, contacted a number of online sellers and brokers, and took the best offer in hand to barter with at the dealer from which i finally purchased.

Deals are abound. Any discount for a new honda in the region of 2k is pretty good as far as i could tell. Some dealers i went to would only give £500 off. I walked out. However, i would reccomend online prices only as a source to do better business with the dealer so long as youre prepared to be persistent and try more than a few.

PS from my own experience, i can say drivethedeal seemed pretty much ok and autoebid even better.

I looked at several ‘online’ dealers and was initially impressed with the discounted prices until I read the small print and realised that the cars were imported. Made contact with two or three who either offered great deals but then made me compromise on the model I wanted and then P’d me around with a poor part ex price and high interest rates. One didn’t get back to me until a week after I’d bought the car from the main dealer. They also only deliver the car to the designated dealer which in this case was Manchester. I live in Co Durham so is about 150 miles away. I didn’t want the expense or hassle of going all the way down there to collect the car and didn’t like the idea of some garage lackey putting a couple of hundred mile on my new car before id even set eyes on it. Delivery by transporter to my front door was another £300 if it was even offered.

Like angie4m I would rather speak to a person face to face. My local Honda dealer has a good reputation and having bought my last Civic from them I went back. I have to say I was very happy with the deal I got and the level of service.

Some good deals to be had out there but some times at a compromise which is ok if it goise in you favour but seldom eves does for me

I wanted to make a good deal and said that i want to buy it this year in stead of next year and the only thing my dealer said "i don't mind i already bought enough civic's this year so i prefer to sell it in 2008. He maid me a good deal anyway and now i have to wait till january 2008 to get my civ!

So what i want to say is that it depends on the amount of cars they still have to sell for there bonus or whatever.

I wouldn't be too concerned because when you come to sell it you can state it's a 2008 and not a 2007 which will up the price.

In the past I've always plumped for a January switch.
