List Price for the Civic
Something that has come to my attention is the amount of people saying
they bought their civic for £20,000 £21,000 or more and then if they have problems point out that they shouldn't be having these sort of problems in a £20,000, £21,000 or more car Your car isn't really worth that much you have added quite a few options to your car for it to be that much and some of these options may actually be a waste of money come trade in time !!! Civic List Prices in the UK: 5 door 1.4 models S - £13,207 ( if you want a base model and if your dealer can find one) SE - £14,277 5 door 1.8 models / 5 door 2.2 models SE - £14,927 / £16,167 Sport - £15,727 / £16,967 ES - £16,127 / £17,367 EX - £17,227 / £18,467 3 door 1.8 Models / 3 door 2.2 Models Type S - £15,277 /£16,567 Type S GT - £16,277 / £17,567 3 door 2.0 Models Type R - £ 17,627 Type R GT - £ 18,627 Prices are based on Std car with non metallic paint Last edited by Brodick; 18th November 2007 at 17:58. |

Don't most people choose options because they want that on/in their car? I seriously doubt that they worry that it may be not worth much come trade in !! |

My point is I am fed up with folk saying I have a £21000 Honda civic
with poor suspension or a dodgy fuel cap and comparing it to other cars that cost £21,000 + that are somewhat better where as the civic is worth a maximum of £18627 it wasn't built as a £21,000 car |

I, being one of those who forked out £20,100 to be exact, on my 2.2 diesel Type S GT, Brodick am still entitled to have a moan when required , when something daft goes wrong with it.
Its not going to make me less annoyed, if I deduct - the sat nav, rear spoiler , metalic paint etc. |

Oh I thought this was such a good point when I started out.
I am not saying that people should not complain if they have issue What I am saying is you cannot make comparisons to much more expensive cars people have compared the civic to a BMW 3 series, audi A4's the starting price for a 3 series is £ 21,915!!! then add on your options the starting price for a A4 is £21,810!!! then add on your options Civic 1.8 SE is £ 14,927 then add on your options |

I have a 38 year old client, who has just purchased a new Bentley at
162k and added 12k of factory fit extras to it, at time of order. If and when it goes wrong, he certainly wont be shouting at Bentley Customer Services, :----------- I paid *******162k for this car and its gawn wrong. |

I do his shouting for him, when it's about his building sites and Planning issues, but when it comes to his cars, believe me,- he can really shout. |

I understand what you mean but it still comes down to if you buy a new car and it goes wrong it really does`nt matter what you paid for it it, the difference is generally Honda dealers are good (with a few exceptions)

I can see where you're coming from Brodick
Basically, we have bought a £15K - £18K car (and then paid more on top for any extras) We should not therefore be expecting the same build quality as if we had bought a £22K A4, or a £22K 3 series BM. To take this to an extreeme (if I'm reading you right Valid point, interesting debate |

But if you had all the options possible it could cost over £30k!

AND -- I bet you a a pound to a penny, that my client, will be taking his Bentley back a few times as well.
Well, actually he will not, cos they would pick it up on a low loader from his house. Well covered up I would think. Going out in it soon, wonder if I will hear a rattle. Think I will be wearing me posh shades. |
