I received an email from Avonvale Honda yesterday which stated the following:

As a valued customer we are offering you the opportunity to bring your vehicle in for a FREE 'Winter Check' to ensure that your Honda is prepared for the winter roads. This offer is available until 3rd December 2007, after this date the 'Winter Check' will be available at a cost of £49.

The 'Winter Check' includes:

Lights - operation & alignment
Oil leaks report
Drive belt condition
Brake condition & fluid level
Antifreeze content

Oil & clutch fluid
Wiper blade condition
Battery condition & fluid level

Yes, I use them as well. I've recommended them several times. I use their branch in Coventry. Excellent all-round service on buying and servicing.

Yes "Free" winter check, but when they find something needs replacing/repairing, you have to pay. I'd beware of these "Free" checks. Nothing is free. Certainly not with car dealers.

Let us know if you get a "Free" winter check with a clean bill of health and nothing to pay...

Maybe I'm just too cynical.
