What are the 2008 changes?

Apologies if this has been answered, but I can't find it.

Does anyone know what changes have been made for the 2008 Civic model apart from the colours?

I've got a Civic on order, and the expected delivery date of mid-December makes me wonder whether it will be 2008 spec.

Anything appreciated.

Cheers

I believe the changes are miniscule. This has been covered somewhere else on this site, I'm sure.

The next real change is the MMC, which won't be announced for a few months yet.

The civic is normally replaced every 5 - 6 years and they will normally do
a medium facelift around the 3 years before then you are unlikely to have any real changes

some other advice can be found here:

Floorpan

I've heard that the floorpan has been altered slightly. Was told this when I ordered a set of mats from the Honda dealer early January for my 57 reg Civic. He said if I got the year of the civic wrong the mats wouldn't fit as the floorpan shape was different for the 2008 model.

The mat issue. Is this not because of the Foot Rest?

My Civic EX delivered new this March 2008 has a manufacture date under the ash tray of 17 Sept 2007. The VIN includes 08 in the number. There still seems no sure way of confirming MY.

Is there anyone in Swindon who can check how many cars are sitting in the compound at the Honda factory!

Wiki is your friend. I borrowed that saying from FWH

These are Honda´s model designations.
FK1: 5 door 1.4 petrol
FK2: 5 door 1.8 petrol
FK3: 5 door 2.2 diesel
FN1: 3 door 1.8 petrol (Type S)
FN2: 3 door 2.0 petrol (Type R)
FN3: 3 door 2.2 diesel (Type S)

These codes are part of the VIN.
VIN is Vehicle Identification Number. Read more about VIN on Wikipedia.
The VIN can be found on a metal plate inside the lower part of the windshield.

For example:

SHHFK37607U000258

Is a 5 door 2.2 diesel (FK3) from Model Year 2007 (07).

SHH is Honda Swindon UK, the plant where the car is built.

Just checked mine - 14 Sep 07 - Delivered Dec 07.

Excuse my ignorance, but doesn't this just prove that the ashtray was manufactured in September, and not tell us anything about the rest of the vehicle?

It is a standard for all makes of car that the date the car was made is stamped under the ash try!

Just checked my VIN which is SHH FK286 08 ......
So whenever my EX was made either in 2007 or this year it is the 2008 model. Right Foggy69?

Many thanks as this is very useful information.

I would say it is an 08 model.

My Type S is an 07 model, but I got it in mid Dec 2006, so the model year is only vaguely related to the real year.

The date under the ashtray thing is un-related as the Civic very nearly didn't have an ashtray or a lighter and some such as HRV the ashtray is mobile. The VIN is the only sure way to tell. Also they do start to build the new model year around end Sept / early Oct.

Thanks for the help Dan.
My sales exec at Alan Day has not rung me back or responded to my email re any of my problems so I will be driving over tomorrow. When I ring he is always on the phone or with a customer.

As well as an old Sat Nav disk the parking sensors do not make a sound and the bonnet does not shut properly. All small stuff but still a surprise none of it was checked prior to delivery.

A small tip, when you get there, befriend the receptionist, if the salesman is busy, they'll soon find someone to help......

If I am the customer, I should not need to befriend anyone. They should give me the service I deserve.
Too few dealers do.

1) you are right in your last comment
2) my heavily sarcastic reply/tip was in jest and in aid to help someone who feels they are getting nowhere.
