sorry for the noob question....

when you say 'map reading lights' are you reffering to the ones you have to manually turn on? or do they come on auto when you unlock the car?

i'd go out and test myself, but the Mrs has the car away on business till Monday and if i try to explain this to her, she'd either take a hissy fit and hang up or tell me something like "the dashboard lights are on if that means anything" LOL

Both - they are the same bulb, they turn on when you open the door(s) and also when you press the button above the rear view mirror

Yes NoNumpty is correct the work in both ways it's just easier to describe them as map reading lights
