Seeing as you have the same TV tuner as me, why don't you use that? The reason I say, is I'm probably going to remove the media player as I have tested the TV usb and it works fine... ok it's a bit limited in the sense it only plays mpg or avi. It's a bit fickle with the format, but once I suss out the best encoding format, I just going to load up my 32gb sd card.

Plus the iphone plays movies too, so I was thinking having the media player is a bit of overkill lol

I wasn`t sure what size SD card the TV box supported as thought it was only 4gb but if it supports 32gb then I will give that a go before I purchase anything.
But would I be correct in thinking I could plug a Ext hard drive (with NO power source) into the media player and have that with all my movies on ?

Yes, except for WD Passports which are known not to work.

Hi Bog,

I'm an spanish user of a 2010 Type-S (facelifted) and I'm interested in your ControlBox Type-A, but I've several cuestions:

Do you ship to Spain? How mush it cost (product+ship)?

Does camera input automatically switches on when reverse is selected in gear box or requires any aditional operation?

The switches required for video selection, are they toggle switches (on/off) or push switches?

Is the control box for a facelifted Civic the same that the control box for a previous versions (not facelifted)?

Thanks in advance

Does camera input automatically switches on when reverse is selected in gear box or requires any aditional operation? Yes, the box will automatically switch on the reverse camera when you engage reverse gear regardless of whether you are watching a movie or have sat nav on ... plus you can switch the camera on manually at anytime with the second switch.

The switches required for video selection, are they toggle switches (on/off) or push switches? Toggle (On/Off)

Is the control box for a facelifted Civic the same that the control box for a previous versions (not facelifted)? Same box & same price, but the connector has a slightly different configuration.

Thanks in advance

I made my own power supply... The Cyclone needs 5v 2A so I bought one of these ( HTC car charger I/P:10-30v dc O/P:5v/2a micro usb | eBay or search ebay for 5v 2A car charger for something similar),

then chopped off the plug and connected one of these DC plugs from Maplin (IRC the FK05F 1.3mm)..

No Problem, obviously if you order both together, the price will reduce slightly due the lower shipping cost

Hi, as far as I know, the USDM Civic Navigation Unit does not have the 7pin Backup camera connector at the back.

Back Up Camera Using Factory Navi? - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum

If you remove your Nav unit and you have the 7 pin port, then yes my box will work.

For Sale:

New! Control Box for Reversing Camera/DVD/ipod etc.

The box plugs into the back of the Honda OEM Navigation System and allows a reversing camera and/or composite video source to be shown on the car's navigation screen.

This a new updated box, same functionality as before. It allows you to do the following:
  • Switch on Reversing Camera when driving forward.
  • Watch video source (iPad, iPhone, Car PC, DVD Player etc,) on Navigation Screen whilst driving forward or stationary.
  • Switch automatically from video source to reversing camera when reversing.
  • The unit can also be connected to AV Selector to allow connection of multiple devices i.e iPod, Car PC or DVD Player.
  • Built in 6db attenuation to improve video image detail (some sources can be a bit bright without)

Click the image to open in full size.

For connecting and controlling devices which have a composite video output such as:
  • Aftermarket Reversing Camera (Such as MrBozo's here: For Sale ... Reverse Cameras)
  • DVD Player or HDD Media Player
  • iPod/iPad/iPhone
  • Car PC
  • Nokia or Android Phone with video out
  • In Car DVB-T Digital TV Tuner
  • Front facing camera
  • Almost anything with a Composite Video Out

These work on all Honda's with a factory fitted Navigation System (Civic, CR-V, FR-V, Accord, Insight, Jazz and CR-Z).

The diagram below shows the basic principal and typical setup....

Click the image to open in full size.

You will need to buy your own switch(s) from Maplin et.c as style and location will depend on your personal preference. Here are some pics of mine...

Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.

(These are push button switches from Maplin - The third is for my rear ambient lighting)

Click on the links below to see my setup and what can be done...

My Setup

Control Box Demo

TomTom built in like Renaults ;)

Updated V2 box - Just one type available now, works with all 06 -> Honda Navigation Units:

Standard Control Box with 7 pin plug (Pictured) . . . . £45.00

  • I will supply full fitting instructions and instructions on how to fit a reversing camera can be found here: How to Install an Aftermarket Reversing Camera - The easy Way!
  • Price includes Postage & Packing - Please allow up to 7 days for delivery.
  • I'm happy to post internationally, please PM for additional postage prices.
  • I have read the trading rules and will follow them to the letter.

If you want to order please state on this thread and I will then PM you with payment details.

The original cable will still be available for those of you who just want to install a Reversing Camera ..... and remember, these also work on all Honda's with a factory fitted Navigation System (Civic, CR-V, FR-V, Accord, Insight, Jazz and CR-Z).... Please see here: Video In Cables (For Reversing Camera etc.)

Hi Bog, Could i have option B as i already have your cable.. 07 CTS.

Also slightly confused on what i actually need. My car is standard except the after market rear view camera and cable which work a treat!, i would like to connect the following:

1) my Iphone 4 for music and video displayed on sat nav screen...

2) TV freeview on sat nav screen..

3) any other device like playstation or dvd player...

Is it possible you could list me all the components i will need to get this up and running? i have read the threads but the set ups vary from people to people.. One other thing my Iphone is NOT jail broken and i dont think i will get it done..

No problem, PM on it's way

In answer to your questions....

1) An iphone/iPod AV cable like this:

Click the image to open in full size.

I got mine from eBay for about £15 (Ensure it has the chip in it - this is the one I have RCA COMPOSITE AV TV CABLE USB iPHONE 4 4G 3G 3GS iTOUCH | eBay)

2) A DVB-T Freeview box like this:

Click the image to open in full size.

Again I got mine from eBay (Freeview TV Receiver Box Digital DVB-T*Free Aerial*-Car | eBay)

This also plays AVI, DIVX, MP3 etc as a bonus It's very good.

Plus get a decent amplified aerial too (Like this ANT29db 5V Feed Car Digital DVB-T TV Antenna Aerial | eBay) the more db's the better)

I also installed a AV switch like this (Ebay again) which I put in the armrest and allows me to switch between Iphone input or TV... and allows for a 3rd input such as a DVD etc

Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.

In addition you will need 2 switches for my box and maybe an phono lead or 2 which will run from the Control box to the AV switch in the armrest.

BTW, no need to jail break as the iphones ipod app and photo app (and some others) detect the AV lead and sent the output to it .

Hope this helps

Box installed and working!!!

Hi guys,

I just wanted to share with you some pics after the "Magic Box" installation and give you some feedback about the product.

* Sale: Fast and excellent communication. Bog quickly replied to all questions and patiently gave me much needed advise!

* Delivery: Fast and well packed

* Product: Well crafted. Works swiftly and as described

* Instructions: Very easy to follow and understand

* After sales support: Great! Bog was always available and answered quite promptly to a couple of urgencies during my install.

All in all A1!!! TOP!!! Recommended!!!!

As for the installation itself it does not required much expertise, just to follow the instruction and some patience and dedication. I just had a small issue fitting the 9 pin connector of the box to the unit. After some advise from Bog I cut some of the edges to make it easier to fit and it went in smoothly.....hehehe and I didn't even need to remove the Unit

Well check out some of the pics. I am know very happy with the results and have to say that it is definitely worth every minute of work. Now I can just watch and relax....or drive and relax while my wife "quietly" watches TV hehehe

Yeah.... and I know this is not a thread of Keys, but I also wanted to show you guys mine, as I am also very happy and proud of having converted both of my original Keys

Now I will be on the hunt for a DVB-T or even S (or both ) receiver to make full use of the mod. For DVB-T Bog's reccomendations looks quite good, but has anybody any suggestion for DVB-S install for our Civics (I know of some auto antennas around branded selfsat but haven't found any car receivers....suggestions are welcome

Cheers,
Hansakraft

Hi Bog,

Now there is no difference between Facelift and Non-facelifted version?

Finally I will order two units, for a 2008 Civic and for a 2010 Civic Facelifted. Please, send me details of payment and ship to Spain.

Thanks in advance
