Cleaning again!

Has anyone used this Pro Spray and Shine? It was originally on the Ideal shopping channel. You don't need water and it takes a fraction of the time to clean your car just using the bottle of stuff and two fibre cloths! Sounds too good to be true, but have a few friends who swear by it and the reviews on the web seem good.

What happens to all the grit, salt and grime you would normally rinse away with the hose before you even start to wash it?

That was my concern as well, but all the people I know who use it, swear by it. It does not leave any scratches, gives a show room look and prevents swirling. I put in " pro spray and shine reviews" in alta vista and google and cannot find a bad review about it. Must be good as the ideal shopping channel has sold out and the bloke on the phone told me that they cannot meet demand and it seems a lot of good suppliers of valet products stock it.

I don't think I'd dare to try it, I'd keep thinking about rubbing grit and muck over my paintwork with those cloths!!!

I use it on my Dad's M3 - It works a treat, it disolves the grit and dirt, but i'm not trying it on my CTR. The best way to use it is the first time wash the car then apply the formula, its a very good wax product that gives a cracking finish to the car and keeps it from getting too dirty even when you've taken it through a field (don't ask!) The Alloy wheel shield is great too, keeps the brake dust to a very minimum!

How can it dissolve grit?? Sorry I just don't think you can beat running water. It seems to me it's designed for people who can't be bothered to wash their car properly.

I agree with you both. My Dad bought that stuff for his car because you've sumed it up, he can't be bothered washing his car too often!

I on the other hand don't feel i've done a good job if i've not been hard at it for a good 4 and a half/5 hours every week! And that involves a hose, a bucket of water, sponge, endless cleaning products, leather chamioes, microfiber cloths, mits etc.

Like I said before that stuff from the tv won't be touching my ctr as I don't think it would leave it scratch free. It works by the mixture disolving what dirt and grit it can and by using the microfiber cloths they provide it 'lifts' any other bigger particals it hasn't managed to breakdown. Its amazing stuff at getting dead flys and bugs off the front of your car, oh and tar as you can imagine, the m3 looks like its ate several hundred by the time its back from a journey.

Cleaning

Prefer to use a mit rather than a sponge, think that the grit may sit on the sponge face.

I wouldn't touch it with my cars, until I had properly cleaned them first, using the good old fashioned way --- plenty of water.

Absolutely, rubbing dirt around with a sponge or mit without lots of flushing water is like cleaning your car with sandpaper.

Can't see how a mit which also collects dirt from your car would differ from a sponge. I bought one of those micro fiber sponges, but can't say i've noticed any difference as I always wash the sponge before I dunk it in the water again.

If you apply it after you have washed the car then it may cut down you cleaning it every week or two maybe, it is made of Carnabua wax which is highly recommended as the wax to use on any car. Great for the summer tho when its full of bugs and tar, it does really remove them without a hassle

4 hours seems a bit excessive for cleaning the car every week! i probly spend an hour cleaning and drying including giving the windows a buff too! maybe its just me being lazy?

I have to say I was beginning to feel rather intimidated at the 4.5 hour car washing spree. I'm afraid I work between two methods: first, take to the local hand wash company ( who are exceptionally good and know about the honda issues ) and they take about an hour. secondly, I wash it during the summer but it only takes about an hour.

so compared to you lot I am a complete amateur!

Just thought when I read it: when did I last clean my car - and I really can't remember (like 2 months ago?) Maybe that's why I have no problems with paint, as I don't get to see much of it

im with you happyman! i hate cleaning cars in the winter so i usually take it to the local 20 person car cleaning place near guildford! it costs £8 but there are about 20 people who stand in a long production line and its clean in 3 mins! they even open the doors and clean round the inside of the door and windows! it usually looks better than when i do it!!!!!! and its even quicker than a mechanical carwash!

Hi guys and girls new to the honda scene as i have just chopped in my new lexus because it was pants. I do have plenty of experiance on the cleaning front tho as the lexus paint scratched if you breathed on it the wrong way.

1. always use a lambswool mitt the long fibres draw the grit to the base of the fibres.
2. use the two bucket method one for the shampoo one for the mitt rinse out.
3. never use a chamois leather or blade to dry they just drag any missed grit along your paintwork. use a drying towel such as maguiars from halfords.
4. apply some top paint protection. carlack 68 uv protectant and carlack 68 new paint protection is the best you can get. these are the people that invented paint protection, diamondbrite and supagaurd just ripped off the old technology which has now moved on to nanotech. you do not have to apply this stuff much just every six months or so but it coats you car in a plastic like coating that also helps prevent swirl marks. the shine and ease of cleaning is also awsome, see pics below.
5. if you like wax then try p21 this stuff is also awsome and can be used in between the carlack. all this stuff is available online just Google it. it does what it says on the tin.
6. Hope i have been of use with my first post .
