Autoglym Competition

A few months back, I entered a competition on the Autoglym website that had been advertised in a car magazine - either Top Gear or Evo, where you had to identify 4 cars from pictures of bits of them.

Had completely forgotten that I had entered until I got an email a couple of weeks ago saying that I was one of the winners!!

Parcel arrived yesterday, containing various bottles of cleaning stuff from the Autoglym range - nice Christmas present for me!!

I've previously used several of the interior/exterior plastic cleaners from Autoglym and found them to be really good so I'm pleased with the prize.

Looks like this pack from Halfords.

Autoglym Car Cleaning Gift Pack from Halfords Price £39.99

So, I'll have no excuses for having the shiniest Civic in the street (well I do have the only Civic ), but think I'll need to wait until the weather warms up a bit - been well below freezing most of the week and is currently hovering around the 0 mark.

Congratulations!

Not wishing to dampen your delight at winning, I used to be an Autoglym fan myself, but since acquiring my new Civic NHB six weeks or so ago, I have changed to Meguiars range of cleaning products. In particular Autoglym have a Resin polish. It was brilliant on my previous car but it is a slight abrasive so following advice from other forum members, I changed stables. As you may know the Honda paintwork is regarded as 'soft' and not quite as robust as we would hope. But if you are happy with Autoglym and it suits your purpose, fine. Well done.

Yes, I nearly had seconds thoughts on posting my comments. I'm only trying to help. Wouldn't like pjr's car to suffer as a consequence of using the polish.

To be honest I'm thinking of giving Meguiars a go myself after the good reports I've read on here.

Looks good. At the end of the day you pays your money and takes your choice. Meguiars offer waxes rather than polish. I have a NHB ES and that colour as everyone will know is more susceptible to showing swirls, scratches etc. So far I have no regrets in changing from Autoglym.

Thanks for the comments/warnings. Before I posted my original message I had read a number of other threads regarding cleaning, and fully expected to get comments that Meguiars was preferable to Autoglym - And that is what I got.

As I said originally, my knowledge of Autoglyms' products has been confined to their interior/exterior plastic/rubber/vinyl cleaners and their glass polish - I haven't tried any of the rest of their range (yet).

I shouldn't have an issue with swirls as they don't show much, if at all, on a silver car - unlike black, deep bronze pearl etc.

As doubtingthomas says above, you pays your money and takes your choice - or in my case, you don't pay any money
