Is this a good deal?

Just took delivery of my Type S. I enquired on the cost of protecting paint work and was quoted the following by Cleaner Cars:

The cost for the Life shine will be £200 plus VAT £235
this includes a valeting pack (AutoglymLifeshine)

Should I go ahead?

Thanks

My personal view is that it's a waste of money. A few good coats of decent polish has the same result, especially if you top it off with a polish protector like this: Autoglym - car cleaning products, car care products, car valeting, car detailing

THEY ARE A RIP OFF

Is this clear enough?

You are probably paying £20 for your valeting pack and £215 for dealer mark up and an hours labour - not exactly good value.

Personally I would buy some Collnite wax (thanks robbo) for £16 and do a better job myself in @ 1 hour. Its should be easy with a new car as it will be clean to start with.

Have a look at the car care advice on this link:

Rip-off

I agree with the previous 2 posts. You can buy a simular product that is just as good and do it yourself for less than a 10th of the price. I use one called Klasse sealant glaze, which is your main protective coat after a good wash and polish with quality products. There are many good cleaning/washing and polishing products recommended in the cleaning section of this forum. I was offered the same deal as yourself by the Honda dealership and actually laughed out loud at the price. Needless to say I didn't take them up on their offer...

Don't do it; use Meguiars or something else instead. we had Superbrite on last car, a Toyota and it made little difference. it was a freebie though

I bought an autoglym lifeshine kit from ebay for £5. It's actually OK. You get upholstery protection (scotchguard type stuff) that works quite well, glass protector (same as rain x) again works well, and lifeshine sealeant that seems to me exactly the same as autoglym extra gloss protection- it looks, smells and goes on the same. I actually think it gave the car a good finish that is quite duable. Applied in October and still beads water well.

For a fiver I don't have any complaints- but I would never pay £200 for it!

I am going to use Meguirs the next time- if it ever stops raining!

Don't do it

13months ago I paid £200+ to the Stealer for Supaguard which if you do not have time/inclination to clean and pollish your car then it will keep it reasonable. However the shine soon goes even when the car is garaged. Over the last two months I have been researching/taking tips off guys here and after pollishing and protecting the car looks better than it did on day one.
