I believe the shape of the skirts & arches are identical in shape - just the R has them colour coded as standard.

Youre quite correct.
Identical minus a coat of paint

This is not so.
They are identical
Perhaps Holdcroft were confused by your question.

Wouldn't make sense for Honda to make two different sets of skirts for the R & S.

Here is a picture of my Type S.

And a Type R from a similar angle (borrowed from the white wheels thread.)

Haven't measured the skirts on both, but they look the same to me.

the fancy front and rear splitters from the R fit straight onto the S too, so I'd put money on the standard kit being identical

While we are on it, does this mean that the front and rear spoiler/skirt will fit on a normal 5 door civic? And They use the same wheelarches?

So in the end, the only thing that is not possible to put right on without modification are the sideskirts?

No sorry, not without a lot of work. The arches on the Type S/R are different as well. The rear wheel arches are also wider than those on the 5 door.

The joins are as highlighted in green on the photo below - the joins are after the bottom edges of the wheelarch have started to flare out again for the side skirts and front/rear skirts.

It can be done, but isn't a simple remove & replace.

The R and S have identical body skirts, the 5 door is different.

Ronny,

Technically they do fit, but with quite a bit of work/alteration, particularly for the rear wheel arches. The exhaust placement/shape on the Type R/S is also different from the 5 door.

This thread might help

The Danish Civic Project :)

or this one

The Greek 5door look type r

They are both long threads, but cover some of the issues in trying to fit the Type R/S bodykit to a 5 door.

Happy reading

So would fitting the image pack to a 5 door and colour coding not make it the same as the Type-R body kit? Or at least look pretty close?

Just found these in the gallery,

I think I actually prefer the front on the 5 door, although I prefer the flared sides on the Type-S

I think the picture of Hondaatje's VB 5 door proves that fitting the image pack on colour coded trim does look the dogs dangle bits

The Type S looks pretty nice as well
