Glad to read that. Came down to wash the car this morning, my birthday of all days, to find an 8 inch by 8 inch square on the rear panel on the drivers side (where the filler cap isn't if you see what I mean) covered in scratches.

Many many of them, two or three fairly white coloured although the nail test did not feel a ridge so much.

I tried Scratch X to some effect, then a chipstick made no difference. Then tried the turtle wax coloured polish I had had to buy to get the chipstick. This darkened them slightly.

From the wrong angle they had looked appalling

After work they are still very noticeable from the wrong angle but ok from the right angle and the right distance. Tried to photograph them but all I got was reflections.

I'll work on them some more when I have time but I think I'll let robbo have a look at the meet next week first.

I dont feel as bad about it as I thought I would because a) I have just 'joined the club', it is NOT a surprise. and b) Chipsaway looks a good fallback if I cant sort it.

Oh well <sigh>

Probably a bit late now, but any chance of before and after photos?

Sorry to hear that ST, What a B-gger.
Was going to wish you belated Birthday Wishes too. ( you get my drift though.)
I wouldn't do any more to it ,if I were you. Let the Main Guys take a gander at it first.

I tried for the 'before' but the camera insisted on focussing on the reflection so you could not really see them

I may try again tomorrow but dont hold out a lot of hope.

Chipsaway turned up and gave me a free quote so you won't loose anything by giving them a call.
The guy used an electric buffer, you won't get the same results by hand.
The paintwork did look a little more swirly on the door where he had fixed it but you can only see this in direct sunlight and as the car is NHB you can really see them anyway.

Yes, I thought that might be the sensible approach too.
