Smile Type S Grill

Hey guys,
This is my first post on here, new user, im taking delivery of my 1.8 Type S GT in NHB next thursday, cant wait!!! And first off i just wanna say what an amazing car! as soon as I test drove it, i fell in love its miles ahead of any other hatch ive driven!

but i do have a question, ive seen a few guys on here with the Type S, with a grille from the type R, i love it it just makes the car look meaner, and im just wondering if anyone knows how much it'll cost here in the uk, and if they know if it counts as a mod or not, seeing as its an official honda part, and if ill need to inform the evil insurance man??? just wanna cover all my bases before i decide on it!!

Cheers guys

Holdcroft Honda who are a dealer listed on here in the dealer section sells them at £225 including delivery. Take a look here type r spoiler and grill

And there is a 'How to' in the wiki for replacing it, have a look [HOW TO] Change to Type R grill

Ah cheers my man, thats made it a bit clearer! i think ill be doing this in a few weeks, as forking out 17k has undoubtedly left me skint for a bit!!!

But does anyone know if it counts as a modification, im not sure of bodystying does, if its an official part.... just need to know if its something that i need to inform my insurance about, and if its likely to add to my premuim??

cheers guys

To be honest I don't know.

Plenty have done this mod, so I am sure they will let you know.

Whilst I would always recommend telling your insurance co, I wouldn't have thought it would make a massive difference to your premium...

Always best to check before you do it though!

It is a "mod", under insurance terms, as it could be seen to be trying to make your car look like an R, and there more stealable. Therefore it 'may' add to your insurqnce, however, Tesco, didn't charge any extra for any of my mods (barring the R grill, but thats another story, it's not for me), I'd ask them first, and you HAVE to let them know about everything that is not on the tandard model, even different gear nob, city pack, image pack EVERYTHING, they will refuse your insurance if you claim and they find out you 'lied' (yes they call it lying, not not-informing, they're cheeky bout' that).

Better to be safe than sorry mate,
ATB,
Tom

The fitting of a spoiler, even the standard optional Honda one, for your car, is regarded as a mod' by Insurance Companies.

Question Type R grille

I enquired about price for Type R grille at local dealer recently, and they advised to wait a few weeks until the new Type S parts are available, because they reckon the new Type S grille will be cheaper and should fit current model.

Would be good if it is cheaper - I might even consider it, because the 2009MY silver/chrome finish would look good on my silver Type S
