Sunroof

In two weeks time I will get my new civic 1.8 sport in royal blue. I did not want the executive version because it has the fixed panoramic glass panel with no fresh air. Has anyone experience with a aftersales sunroof, such as a internal sliding sunroof or a tilt & slide type. I am only familiar with the brand Webasto.

Would think it would be a lot of work, and money, invalidate your bodywork warranty and possibly depreciate your cars PX value.

Check 'em out.

Doubt if it would invalidate your bodywork warranty but any claims around the roof area might be dodgy!

The metal roof on the Civic is very thin and flexible (you'll find out first time you wash and polish it). I think that's why the glass roof is a totally fixed unit as it forms part of the structure.

I would get advice from your dealer in the first instance.

Aren't all cars suffering from that thinness?

Maybe putting a sunroof on will strengthen up the roof area!

You could be right there, if its strong enough to hold it in place afterwards!

sunroof for sure

I know it rains a lot in the UK. But is there realy no sunroof in the latest model civic in the whole country? Then I will be the first on civinfo in a couple of weeks. Leaving a Peugeot 307cc convertible, I will need the fresh air.
When the job is done, I will post some pictures. Wait and see!

Is the job done? Where are the pics??
I am thinking about same solution for fresh air. I'd love to have such a big roof like 206 has.

LD_Mart: can you post some details, if you know owner?
Specially the price and if it is openable like in the picture, or also sliding (inside, outside)??

You do realise they live in Oz and the price to have that done will be different to where you are. So price seems irrelevant unless you ship the car there to have it fitted?

I have the glass roof and I would trade it for an aftermarket sunroof if possible (but it is not).
I have installed after market sunroof(s) in some of my previous Honda's that did not have the option.
It makes the roof stronger due to the metal frame.

Have you felt how flimsy the roof of the Civic is? I set my alam off yesterday power washing the roof. The glass roof is more sturdy and it doest flex when pressure is applied

If it strengthens the structure, it is wierd you cannot get one on the Type R, unless it is to keep the centre of gravity lower.

(I better not get a type R then)

Also a weight issue I think. The car weighs enough without adding yet more glass into the equasion.

Honda would probably ban me from having one as it would ruin the image
