If you haven't washed them for a while and its stuck on then wonder wheels or a similar product. If you can't wash them every week with hot water and soap then I would suggest you get some wheel protection spray which basically stops the brake dust from sticking to the alloys and it just rinses off!
I'm guessing you have the 18's as the 19's are a doddle to clean. |

Its gotta be Bilberry, the stuff is acid-free and can be diluted up to 10:1 (which is what i use on my Chrome wheels) and works out very economical too. Smells nice as well

I just use Turtle Wax wheel cleaner from Asda for a couple of quid and wee alloy wheel brush on my 18s once a week. The wee brush fits the corners just fine. I only leave the cleaner on for a couple of minutes cos it is acidic I guess from the smell.

I am afraid the best answer that I have found for keeping alloys in their best condition is to to wash them regularly (I try to get them done at least once a week and no longer than 2 weeks) I use a good wheel cleaner product such as Turtlewax Extreme Wheel Cleaner which helps reduce the scrubbing needed on the more stubborn stuff but is not seem overly strong.
I then use turtle wax wheel wax one a month or so as this helps protect the wheels and prevents a lot of the dust from sticking making cleaning a lot quicker. Once break dust gets baked on it is a real **** to shift and that is when you start to damage the wheel with hard scrubbing etc. On some sites I have read that regular use of the very strong cleaners such as Wonder Wheels can damage the lacquer and cause blistering of the paint below how true this is I can not confirm but I did use it regularly on my Accord and after 18 months I did start to see this problem which is partly why I no longer use it. |
