Cover for brake lights discussion (split)

Hi there Civic Fans,

I post in the Stylingthread because I couldn't create a new one in the for Sale and Wanted thread.

I’m a Civic FK2 driver from Germany. Of course we also have a community. The Forum HONDA Civic ab 2006 (FK, FN, FD) Forum. As you might think we love our Civics and did as well some modifications on the car. If you like, you may look in the category “Bilder”. There are some pics of our Civics. It’s a cover for the brake lights. As you see on the photo it’s written civic on it. It is out of self-adhesive film an is bonded on the third brake light. To install the film you just have to remove a plastic cover in the boot and remove a few screws. Then you can take the brake light out of it’s position an install the film. The result you see on another picture below. It’s a effort of roughly ten minutes. Many civic driver in Germany and Austria ordered already this cover.

Are they road legal in the UK???

Also if you are offering it for sale I think it has to be in the for sale section.

I'm not shure if it is legal, but some people drive already in Germany and Austria with this covers. No problems so far. The cover is roughly 22cm long so it doesn't covers the whole brake light. Left and right ist still a big part of it shinning through.

I tried to put it in the sale section but I cannot create a new topic. Maby the admin could move the thread to the sale section

just because they are available doesn't mean they are legal, I'm not saying that they aren't just that all lights on cars have to have to carry E marks and if you alter them this may not longer apply.

It may well be a grey area, that the police are unsure and so for the moment arn't taking action, for a while they did the same with al sorts of mods, like neons until it could be shown they were legal/illegal.

Not related with the topic but on your words, here's an ironic bumper sticker:

Took a grand total of 15 mins. You prise off the middle panel behind the third brake light, undo 4 screws, pull out the light, unclip the red surround, place cover in the middle, put surround back on, screw back in place, put panel back on and bobs your uncle, done. He's selling them for £5 each
