Could anyone help me out with a side skirt problem?
Hey guys.
Recently bought some bits to transform the 5 door into a more Type R looking beast. I got the wheel arches and side skirts from a breaker and they didnt exactly arrive in pristine condition. It actually looks like they've just been pulled off. Could someone who's seen a full Type R skirt give me some idea as to wether im actually missing anything. Also, the white clips in the pictures might be broken, but im not sure what they're supposed to look like. Last edited by aslz78; 2nd April 2008 at 18:39. |

There should be 3 clips each side on the underside of the sill. These are the black plastic type that you have to push in the middle to secure them.
There should be 8 clips each side along the inside of the sill. The one at the very back is slightly different. These clips are white and are L shaped and are attached to the car body. Looking at the photo, it does appear that most , if not all these clips are missing/damaged. The sill is also screwed into the rear wheel arch by one screw |

The way the skirts clip on is quite clever
The white clip attaches to the body, and then the U shaped (on its side) bracket on the skirt slides on to the white clip You may find that you already have all the clips you need, currently attached to the car On the other hand, you may need to refer to Jimp and Ivoke's threads, as they had some issues with fitting the side skirts... Have you already got the front and rear skirts, or are you going to get a bit creative where the wheel arches meet them? let us know how you get on! |
