Finally managed to get a pic of a reflection after todays clean. Looking at it I think I need a better cleaning/polishing regime to iron out all 'lumpy' finish on the paint!

That's "orange peel" - wet sanding and polishing back up is the only way to remove it, assuming it's in the clearcoat, not the paint layer.
You might be lucky to get away with a good polish, removing a couple of microns (wet sanding tends be a bit more aggressive, but not always), and get a nice mirror finish.

No way to remove it, all civc rear panels are like it, its the shoddy paint quality we've got, but enough work and waxing and it looks presentable

It is less noticable on 5 drs as the panel is much smaller..

My doors seem OK, it is just the panel between the rear door and the bumper / tailgate.

It is even less noticable on mine as it is usually dirty

Here is my new Milano Red straight from the dealers. No polish yet, just as supplied with my S2000 reflected in the door. I am impressed with the depth of the colour, but the paint is a bit orange peeled. My S is Silverstone (Silver) so really difficult to get a real depth to the shine, I am looking forward to working on the Civic.
