Coldwarkid - yep, thats why im not goin back to the cowboy carwashers no more!

it MUST have been misuse of a jetwash hose by possibly zipped car washers!

I have to admit, when (if) I do wash my car, I put jogging bottoms on rather than jeans.

the car mechanic down the road took a look at the bonnet today, said pic 3 below was a definite "keying" attempt and requires a respray to restore it or if i can put up with a lesser quality fix then a touch up pen from honda might help a bit....

left pic is big one, right pic is close up of it, either way its a real sod to deal with...

Respraying is expensive - would a full car valet service with an orbital polisher help?

Unfortunately not if it has gone right through to the primer.

I would try chips away, or a touch up stick and a bent paper clip, get the paint to a level just above the surface and polish flat with something like Autoglm Colour/paint restorer (slowly and gently), will try and find and post my Autoglym manual on chip and scratch removal.

Hi, i have similar scratches behind the back door on the roof sides. I supose it is from carwash!
Since discovering it I never drove to carwash.

I bought Karcher high pressure washer for home use.
I am washing cars now for my whole family

I've just got back from Chips away (Peterborough) and was quoted £75 for doing the bonnet, and wings. or £350 for a respray. The guy said that the chip repair is only a temporary measure and that the repair could be dislodged if caught with the jet from a pressure washer. In addition he said that the process is not invisible, you would still be able to see the chips in the paint, but that they would be the same colour as the main coat.

So its made my mind up. Carbon Bonnet ordered.
