Supagard treatment

Hi all,

I opted for the supagard treatment inside and out mainly because the dealer did it for £150 instead of their usual £350 (rip off)

Has anybody else had this treatment - has your car paintwork remained in excellent condition? What are your views on the product? Do you still continue to wax your Civic?

They claim that you don't have to wax the car for 3 years - I haven't given mine its first wash yet as I was told that the treatment needs 7 days to cure(??) but plan on giving it a wash & wax next weekend.

Thanks

Waste of money!

Get a couple of coats of decent wax polish on.

Youve probably paid £140 too much for it...Its a rip off and doesnt last
Get some decent wax on it as soon as possible

Thanks for the comments - glad I never paid full price then.

Will wash it with Zymol auto wash (I find it a very good product) and see how it comes up. I use a meguires wash mitt and have some of their gold class wax just in case!

oh yes it does - just sold my 5 year old car that was supagarded when new and it still looks like new - not one coat of wax or polish in 5 years.

Tis a rip off if you pay the stealers for it - don't pay anymore than £20

Got my CIVIC supagarded as part of the deal but was very disappointed with the state of my brand new baby when I picked it up, it was dull and dirty

I had my car treated with supagard. I'm not too sure whether its worth it for the exterior, but as i don't have a lot of time for washing and waxing (the car) i decided to give it a go.

I have had my car for 6 months now and have not yet applied any wax (i know, i know Robbo et al ). However whenever i wash it it seems to come up looking really nice and shiny and the water beads and runs off very well. Pics in this thread.

3000 miles

The only problem i have had (apart from stone chips ) is with bird crap and i don't think anything really protects against that.....especially the stuff that rooks and crows produce

The interior treatment i think is well worth it as it makes everything really easy to clean. Very useful if you regularly have children in your car. Its like a Scotchgard treatment.
My old car had a similar treatment on the interior only and looked as good as the day i bought it after 3 years of dogs, children and horsey gear.

OK..I hold my hands up...
But why the hell do these dealerships charge these rediculous prices?
Well...I reckon its because they prey on ignorance.
Some people are inherently lazy and dont want to wash their car..
The dealers advertise this and lazy joe public thinks it will be the answer to their prayers.
They dont realise that these products can be bought for £30 from ebay and that salesmen are on commission.
A good wax will leave the same results but requires work.....
Some of you that have it, swear by it..OK.....
Personally, I dont think theres a substitute to good old fashioned washing and waxing.
Good luck to you with it..
Not for me...
Unless I was a car salesman
PS..I'm not talking about the fabric protection..
Although you can buy ScotchGard spray for £5

My dad had hisd range rover odne from new, at around 450, it is a complete waste of time and money, and a tin of collinite or other decent wax is far better. It definately doesn't work if you have leather, as my fathers one were guaranteed not to mark significantly, there are needless to say great big blue marks up his cream interior from our jeans!!!!!!! Total Rip Sorry.

I have to say I agree with Robbo on this one, I think they do prey on peoples ignorance.

Is it ok to wax if the supagard treatment has been applied by the dealer?
Is there any need to wax a one week old car?

Wait until the water stops beading on the paintwork, that's when you know it needs doing.

My dealer put diamond brite on my car without telling me and nothing was mentioned about a curing time (especially as it started peeing down about 10 mins after I got the car) when I asked why I had the sticker as I was about to wash the car only 2 days later. Mines still works fine.

Did the car again yesterday with neat diamond brite, but next weekend it will be wash and then a wax. Nowt wrong with waxing it, it just gives it a real deep shine and the diamond brite/superguard is still applied underneath.

Also does Superguard not offer a 6 year guarantee like the diamond brite? Even if it does it only remains intact as long as you have it inspected every year by an authorised dealer and there is a charge for that I believe

I had mine DiamondBrite'd and I don't think I would do it again. I think the money would be better spent towards a 5 year service deal and do what Alan said above and polish it.

Part of my DiamondBrite deal was a sort of Scotchguarding of the interior and I wish I hadn't bothered. Whatever they used it took me about 4 hours with a powerful vacuum cleaner to get rid of all the tiny hairs from every crevice and all over the seats.
