The Definitive Cleaning Procedure!

Ok Ladies and gentlemen I want your help!

As a person who hasn't really taken care in cleaning their car before and has become more interested in the idea since joining this website, How should I go about it?

What I mean is what is the procedure for a complete cleaning novice? I am asking for a 'How to Cleaning Procedure'. I know it may sound stupid but for some of us (well me) it might be a good starting point!

This could become the Holy Grail of the cleaning forum ! It would be great to see the advice in one place.

I found the "car care advice" section on this site very helpful in improving my techniques:

HappyMan, did I shame you into thinking about cleaning your car after you saw my new photos?

Yes, something like a 5 or 10 set guide for those who want to start taking more care of their spaceship would be great.

Some basic dos and donīts kind of thing.

I think this is part of the problem for those who are new to this.

Perhaps a Wiki summary also linking to the best posts / threads, by one of the experts?

That's why I began this thread as there are bits and pieces everywhere but not in one place. It would be good to get every ones ideas and practices in one place.

I think this is a good way to go and maybe those 'experts' can help us 'novices' with their experience. however rather than it being in many places it could be put in one thread and updated and so from there.

Maybe a couple of guides:

One for those who have an hour or so to clean / wax their car each week (ie the basics )
and
One for the perfectionists

Just incase anyone was considering having a quick glance at it before getting on with the rest of their day (potentially involving washing their car) - it's just taken me an hour to read that guide on polishedbliss end to end and now the weather's starting to turn!

It was an interesting read though...
