Bloomin birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
I am now well into over a weeks ownership of a NHB CTR.
I am in love with this car. Full on.
But I am having a war with the birds, why oh why do they have to empty there bowels just on my car I don't know.
I parked outside Halfords, went in swapped some oil over, come out, splat all down the side of the car right into the trims and real awkward places, I am sure these birds had a bionic eye just like the bionic man did, so there accuracy with aim was 'spot on'.
So today, parked under a tree for 5 minutes, splat. I went to my parents, It was on the car for no longer than 40 minutes. I washed off the offending mess, the bodywork paintwork was fine, but the rear spoiler, stained! AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
As you can imagine I was not best pleased. If I had left it in the baking sun for two weeks fair enough, but 40 minutes, and it was only that long because I had not seen it until I had got to my parents house.
Water based paint work, blah!!!!, they might as well of covered the car in tissue paper, that would of been much more resistant.
Any way, after careful polishing and a technique of hot paint and ice cold rag I managed to lift the acid out of the paint and it is back to its glory.
PHEW!!!!!!
So a warning to all, watch out for birds dropping on spoilers etc as it appears that the paint is even thinner in these areas , or is not as resiliant to birdlime any way.

regards Pumatron.

I had the bird issue soon after I got my car. I had no choice but to park under a tree at a clients and when I returned it looked like a bird target practice session had happened. I got home late and the neighbours must have thought I was nutty but I was cleaning off the stuff in the dark using the reverse lights from my wife's car. Thankfully nothing happened to the paint work and I was relieved.

Really sorry to hear that you have been unfortunate. Maybe some cleaning product could help!

I too had a problem with birds, leaving prezzies on my type r everytime I parked outside my house.

Conclusion
I cut down the trees over hanging my drive. Problem Solved!!

I wouldnt recomend you cut any tress that dont belong to you though, councils dont like it, funnily enough.

I'm wondering if birds prefer to target black cars - perhaps they think they more closely resemble the road, or they're just jealous. Either way its annoying. I park at work in the middle of a car park with no trees directly above, and at homeaway from any trees, and you can pretty much guarantee that I day or two after cleaning, there's a white deposit on the roof.

If you are prone to this then get some serious layers of wax on the paintwork to help shift the stuff.

Apparently the way to remove it is to put a hot wet steaming cloth over it and give it a few minutes to work, then you should be able to wipe it straight off.

I read somewhere that this happens because our feathered friends see the reflection of themselves and act as if this is a bird in their territory.

yeah, black cars, blue cars beware, ** in for it, i have had a couple of bird craps on it but come off easy. They do it on blue cars as it resembles the 'sea'. even theough our sea dont look that dam clean. black, i think its how spile put it.

So the way around it is to have a dirty car so they can't see their reflections. The rate they go, I think I could have a bird poo coloured car in a few days quite easily.
