Cleaning towels - how do you wash em?
I got 3 x megs water magnet cloths, cost me 10 quid each. Werent cheap.
I chucked em in the washing machine on "delicates" for 50 mins at 30 degrees 700rpm They were still dirty after. So i repeated in the machine another 2 times. Now theyre lookin knackered and i bought these new! Some of the fibres have come out, and the stitching too. Woops. Think i may have overdone it, but they still looked dirty after 2 washes. Now then, whats the correct way you guys are washing your cleaning cloths? Do you chuck em in the machine? what settings are you using? do you tumble dry em after? i put em up on the washing line, but they still looked knackered! Thats 30 quids value i didnt get...so wot am i doin wrong and wots the right way? Ta |

Nah, the Meg's are just overpriced crap.
Should've went with Monster Fluffy, Chem Guys Miracle, or Sonus Der Wonder, Aquatouch. Take/send the Meg's back, and get either a refund or some of the alternatives listed. You'll be so pleased you did. |

I've chucked mine in with her wash about half a dozen times and whilst it doesn't get all the stains out it's certainly clean enough to use.
Not had any problems with it falling to bits. |

I would be concerned that they all get that dirty. I keep 3 separate ones. One large cloth for the panels and glass roof - this never gets that dirty because the car is clean and it only goes near the paintwork. I use another for glass and plastic body trim and this usually picks up a bit of discolouration. And finally I have one for the wheels and inner sills, etc. This last one gets dirty but as I keep it away from any cosmetic painwork it doesn't really matter.
Having said all that I do put them in the washing machine and they're fine. Actually, when I say "I" I actually mean that Mrs Lurker does it |

Mine go in at the hottest wash heavy stains ( cotten ) and the longest spin
No probs so far even the Meguiars Water Magnet , normal microfibre cloths as well. DO NOT PUT A LAMBS WOOL WASH MITT IN or SOME SYNTHETIC CHAMOIS!!!!! ( As they shrink lol ) Bought a lovely soft lambswool wash mitt £20 !!! used it a few times and then it got mixed up with the cleaning cloths and low and behold i had a wash mitt fit to clean my 1:18 scale models lol Last edited by Rich 11; 18th June 2008 at 09:30. |

I have a Poorboys drying towel and that is still in great condition. The cheaper micro fibre cloths I use are looking a bit tatty, but still do the job.
Just don't use fabric conditioner when you wash them. |

I blade and then go over with a microfibre, seems to work well. But as you saythe blade doesn't get into all the nooks and crannies.

I suggest do not wash microfibres/lambswool mitts at anything over 40 degrees, and ONLY use a non-biological washing powder and NO fabric conditioner. Do not tumble dry. These points are very important!

If you run a stream of water over the car..it sheets off and minimises the drying needed.
Good wax and/sealer applied of course. |

Best way to wash any microfiber cloths, mits wool or cloth etc is to hand wash them with non-biological powder but not things that are 2 in one which contain conditioner too as thats a no no!
Hand washing is the only way to get the dirt out of them, i've tried washing at 40 degrees and less with my towels but found best results when doing it by hand |
