Clean wheels - what do you recommend

So I do like my car clean rather than dirty, although spending 9 hours on cleaning it is unlikley as I have the attention span of a newt

Any way apart from the stone chips (looks like a shot gun has shot my bonnet) my wheels have like brake dust or whatever in the little crevices and some discolouration. What do I need to use/do to clean them properly.

Also the stuff that makes your tyres shiney, I like that aswell what is it ?

Tyre Swipe is apparently good stuff for keeping your tyres looking new and bblack, however I use AG vinyl and rubber care, works just as well.

Once you get your wheels clean, put a few coats of Poorboys wheel sealant on. It will be really easy to keep them clean after that.

I left it for a bit maybe 2500 miles and its burnt on, toothbrush won't lift it now. Don't want to scratch the wheels with anything stiffer.

That stuff on the website looks good, if a tad expensive

Use some strong wheel cleaner and wash off really well. You should get it all off provided it hasnt eaten through the clearcote.
If you have its a refurb jobby

I use AG engine degreaser and cleaner, spray on and leave for 5 minutes to soak in, then agitate with a stiff wheel brush, then spray with a garden sprayer (2 for 5 quid at B&Q, they are pressurised, like weedkiller bottles). I fill that with very strong car shampoo, then leave for a further 5-10 minutes (re-apply if it starts to dry!!!!!), then wash with a hose/jet washer. Or substitute cheap coke for the AG ECD.

Then coat with alloy wheel seal, it makes the job so much easier next time.

ATB,
Tom

Will get some alloy wheel seal, never even knew you could get half this stuff for cleaning cars.

Whats that about cheap coke, does that lift the crap off.

It hasn't gone through the clear coat It just needs something stonger than shampoo to lift it off.

Will try these suggestions at the weekend chaps see what I can come up with.

Okay, wheels - Bilt Hamber Auto Balm, but might need Auto Clay to remove any stubborn brake dust first. Be prepared to remove them to do the inside as well as the face/lip.
Thereafter, R222 wheel gel and Swissvax brush to clean, and maybe EZ Detailer Brush (not the cheapest, but a one off purchase).

As for the tyres - 303 Aerospace Protectant, which you can also use on the wiper blades, rubber seals, black trim, interior trim/dash, and leather seats. Heaps of UV inhibitor, so less likely to wind up with bleached out trim, etc if used regularly.

This Poorboys stuff sounds like a good investment! I'm currently using Mer Wheel Wax and washing them with Meguiars Goldclass reguarly to keep the grime down.
Anyone know how the Poorboys compares to the Mer?
I might give the autobalm a go first since I have it already!
