BH Wash and Clay

Just used both of the above, both were an absolute JOY!!!!!! the wash was perfect and made a real difference (also nice to only have to use a bit, rather than 2-3 squirts).

The clay is great, although I used some BH wash in the water as a lube, just as an aid, although it isn't 100% necessary.

Try them you'll be suprised (I know I was suprised which parts of my car were cleanest

).

BH washed, BH clay then BH Balm.... first coat........ wow my back is killing me

. A bugger to get first coat off though.

You probably overapplied it, left it too long to buff, spread it over too large an area, or are a complete whimp.

Next coat, apply very lightly and reduce the amount on the pad (2-3 dabs max and a well wetted pad) and do about 1/4-1/3 of a panel at a time, before waiting 30 secs to buff.
With a spray bottle or the hose sprayer handy, keep the pad wet for ease of application/spreading.

Looks lovely, and no I'm not just saying that because you're using BH products!

Great shine.
I told you the first coat was the hardest.
No matter how little you put on..Its still hard to buff up the first coat...even for a wimp!!

The next 5 coats should be easier!!

Just collinited mine after claying and washing, only 5 coats so far, will do more on Monday

Probably another 5 to go, great shine!!!!!

I really like 'buffing' my spaceship, make of that and a right arm the size pop-eyes what you will

The Orbital makes so much easier the first coats.

I really am aiming to apply ten coats, possibly more (was thinking of using the whole tin on the car in one go just to see

that is a joke

).

I want to see if I can make the paint bullet proof (ragged it today along some local NSL roads (back roads so a bit like rallying

) and picked up some more chips......

).

TBH Tom..I dont think you'll stop the chips that way.
Too much wax will not be good, shine wise
It needs to be removed every year IMO; the paint polished and wax/B-H AB reapplied

Not strictly true Rob - carnauba wax ages due to UV radiation, yellowing as it does, and embeded contamination.
Now, if you can notice a yellowing on anything other than silver or white, I'd be surprised, but with that said, you're looking at around 3-4 times a year for stripping back and freshly applying.
BH AB is not a wax, and like all sealants, does not suffer from this degradation, but you'll probably find it'll need stripping if your paintwork starts feeling rough with the embeded contaminants it'll pick up.

as my car is less than 3 months old and i clayed it and BH balmed it, does it need a wax first before i did this or im i ok adding layers every week or so of balm ?

Age is immaterial, and the wax AND sealant 'thing' is a matter of personal preference, or whether you can see a difference.
People believe waxing over a sealant adds some wetness/warmth that the sealant doesn't provide, but I'd lay good odds on two identically prep'd cars side by side, and the vast majority not being able to perceive the slightest difference.
LSP's (last stage product/protection) only ever add 5-10% of the overall look - the remainder is the prep work on the paintwork via polishing.
So, if you're one of those perceptive persons, then you may well benefit from a wax layer underneath (not over the top in AB's case), but in all honesty, I find AB has enough of the acclaimed wax characteristics to negate any benefit.
I personally subscribe to the paint surface only fanclub, since sealants are more antsy about what they bond with than carnauba waxes are.
BH claim the Balm is okay over wax, but always advise caution the other way round as the solvent carriers may knock the Balm's durability back, if not stripping it altogether.

As much as I know Collinite is a carnauba based wax, the chemicals in it make me fairly sure that of all the carnauba waxes on the market, this one is the most likely to remove what's underneath it.
If not, then I'd be very surprised, but there's still the knock-on effect of reduced longevity, and I'm dubious Collinite is all that long lasting, and therefore would in someway compensate.

As always, part of the fun of car care this indepth, is the experimentation aspect - so feel free to split a panel in half, and do one half one way, the other, the other way.
Monitor and see how it performs over a period of time, and if there's any difference initially in looks.
