Best / Safest way to remove bugs?

Ok

I cleaned my car today and I noticed that there are some very stubborn squashed bugs on the front bumper and bonnet!

Just want to know what the best and safest way (in terms of paintwork) to remove them on my Nighthawk Black? Dont just want to try some random bug / tar remover!

Thanks

Stu

You could try using a clay bar and lubricant if they are really stubborn.

Mequiars do a kit you can buy at halfords for around £20 or so and gives you 2 x clay bars, detailing spray (lubricant),sample size bottle of cleaner wax and a microfibre cloth. Bilt Hamber also do clay that can be used with water as a lubricant.

If you soak them with hot water to soften them, they will simply wash off. You may have to try a few times though

Thanks all!

My dad said he had used Turtle Wax Tar / Bug remover previously and had no ill effects, so I used that, seemed to do the trick on the bumper anyway!

Not done the bonnet yet!

The bikers on here will also know this one. The clear visor on a helmet always collects flys and the plastic scratches very easily. The last thing you need on a visor is scratches as visibility is very poor, particularly riding towards the sun or towards headlights at night.

The best technique is to soak the fly remains by putting a wet cloth over the visor (ie a paper kitchen towel) for about an hour. They come off with an easy single wipe after this soaking, with no worrys about scratching.

I guess the same technique will work well on soft Honda paintwork !
