Rain spots
I had my car washed yesterday and noticed numerous splash-like spots on the bonnet. I was told that they're salt traces from rain.
I reckon I can remove them with something like Color-X. My question is what can I do to protect the paint from further misfortunes like this? |

It's more likely the residue from tap water after washing.
The only way is to leather it down before it dries. A good waxing will also help for the future. As for getting the spots off now possibly a 'polish' instead of a 'wax' may gently remove the surface contamination before giving it the wax treatment. |

Yep that'll work
The worst culprit is washing the car in the sun which causes a hot metal surface to dry the water almost on contact. |

These spots weren't there last week. I went away for a long weekend, leaving the car parked outside my house. When I returned I was told it'd rained, which I could also see from the dirt on the car. When I had it washed there they were! I'll try the polish before the wax. Will the wax protect the colour from rain as well as sun? |

Thanks. My routine is Ι rinse the car first, wash small surfaces, rinse off again (using two buckets). I don't polish or dust without having washed the car first.
