How do you know they aren't fobbing you off with catering food wrap?

Personally I would steer clear of any site that gives the impression of being 'professional' but has spelt the word 'opening' as 'openning'; doesn't get my vote of confidence.

just checked the kitchen drawers

no food wrap, but the baking paper we have is....
37.8 cm wide
Now our is only an 8m roll - but the box looks plenty big enough to hold 14m...

and - I'm wondering who 'we' are?

Who knows - could be a fantastic product
There is at least one buyer on their feedback who is happy with it

But my fave quote is always - you only get what you pay for...

just because they have spelt one word wrong doesnt mean they are out to con you, iwantacivic spelt front wrong (just using it as an example) but that doesnt mean he isnt a trustworthy person and is gonna rip you off! xx

I do wonder quite how you are supposed to clean your car with this stuff on though - and what happens at the overlaps?

or if water gets under the edges

or how it will stay on at motorway speeds without all ending up wrapped around your wipers

unless it's sticky - in which case I hope it comes off when you want it to...

If someone does decide to buy this stuff, please let us know!

Yes, ltos of odrinray poeple mkae msitkaes wehn tpynig but we're not sellnig as a 'porfsesoinal' Cmopany.

Only joking with you Andrea, but if you want to try it I guess if it's no good for your bonnet you can always wrap your sandwiches in it.

Still looks like 'Cling Film' to me.

Ps: I've just had a look at their feedback reports and the customers seem happy enough, so maybe I was a bit hasty. Apologies if I upset anyone.

you are absolutely spot on IWant - 1400mm is 1.4m

And I should have pointed this out - as I was (perhaps over generously) thinking that there is no way they could charge £10 (or so) for about 5 feet of this stuff - you would need about 3 rolls just to do the bonnet...

ok a slight exageration - but 1 roll wouldn't go very far.

so I assumed that they had either missed a '0', or meant to say 1400cm - but hey, perhaps they expect you to buy in bulk

Sorry - showing my age there

That does look rather more like the sort of thing that would do the job of properly protecting your car

Though I'd still wonder how you would get it properly clean once it's sat under a tree for a day or too - claybar probably isn't going to help much

actually just had a longer look around their site - they do have a solution for the cleaning problems!

It all looks rather good if you're into that sort of thing

Which is not me recommending it mind!

I have used Ventureshield to do my MK2 elise and they are fab. I don't have to worry about stone chips or anything. Polishing it is easy too.... 'WINDOW CLEANER'

And the guys there are really good. One of the problems with the elise is that with the roof off you can end up with stone smashing the rear glass panel. Venture shield measured and created a 'panel' for the rear window so if it is destroyed, it will mearly stick to the film and I won't be picking up glass for years afterwards. So they will no doubt be able to do the foglights, just nobody has asked them yet!

I will be getting this for my civic as I really believe in the product after years of having a potholed elise front clam.

That's interesting to hear from someone that has had actual experience with the Ventureshield product - sounds well worth consideration. I did use something similar on a bike's fairing several years ago which did a good protection job without harming its asthetics.

Small world, I was born in Dormansland - The Old Surrey Hall was a maternity hospital during WW2. Retired (early) 5 years ago and moved to Lincs. - good value for money propertywise compared to the overpriced SE.

We have Petecivic (CTR owner to be) on here also from EG - perhaps we should start a new EG connection thread in the 'Any Non Civic chat here please' ?

Lovely Building to be born in.

The 'old EG Society of the Civics' might be worth a whole new forum. Quite a few Civics around here. 2 in crawley down already. I can understand the move..I'm looking at a relocating to Chsiwick for work and it feels like jumping out of a mansion into a shoebox for the same money (think we're going to end up deciding I'm better off commuting)

Thanks for the pic. psiboy - it all went downhill from there on!!
Once had 6 years of commuting - Haywards Heath to the City - would not recommend it at all.

Must be careful or we will get our knuckles wrapped for going off topic, so must say something about Ventureshield - where did you have it done and was it under controlled conditions - thinking of possible creasing/wrinkles ?

Sorry, so used to SELOC (south east lotus owners club) forum..real anything goes..threads flying off at tangents, rarely getting back to the point!!!!

Anyway, I opted for it to be done in my home garage. They came round cleaned the garage (swept, washed floor and obtainable walls with hose, etc) then layed the film out on what was essentially a good quality wallpaper pasting table. The car had been resprayed after an accident (paint was left to harden for a few days - didn't drive it for fear of a stone chip!)..they used a soap solution to place the film on and then stretched it over the body with a plastic credit card style tool. 3-4 hours to apply.Took a day to dry. paid about £340 for a full kit.

Been on for 2 years and nosigns of yellowing (not that I'd probably notice on a black car) a few small nicks at the front of the car where the film has protected paintwork from a particularily fast object. If something really horrible gets stuck, I use a little white spirit and it looks like new again. One little section in the corner that has lifted by about 3mm, but this is in a particularily shapely bit of the front and seems to be the cars fault not the film (there is only so much stretching/shapng the film can do!)
