Swissol

FAR from cheap, but stunning.
Not easy to get hold of either - not in Halfords etc - but I had my TT done by a pro swissol rep over 2 years ago, and splashed out on a tub of wax.

Dispite cleaning it at least once or twice per month (sad but true!), and giving it a quick was most weeks (even more sad!), I've still got over half the tub left

Got some great stuff for the wheels too, but it's unbranded - need to pop back over to TT Forum to get the name of it at some point...

Meguires clay bar rocks tho

Natural Carnuda wax is the best. P21 very good, Tried Zymol titainium and that is better. Recently got some "50/50 hardwax" from teh chemical guys and that is better still.

Waxed the car about 3 or so weeks ago and washed it tonight with the "Spot free finish" at a jet wash, nothing else, just the light spot free finish. All the dirst and road grime just fell off the car.
Dryed the car using a water magnet towel, gave it one more pass with a bone dry microfibre towel and the car looks freshly waxed again. Havent used a bottle polish that can do the same.

Will post a link to the wax tomorrow.

Hi

I have read this thread and look at the Meguiars products.

I am collecting my Galaxy Grey Civic next week, would like to protect it as winter is approaching, bit confused with Wax & Polish?

The day I get it should I :-

A. Wax it (with what?)
B. Polish it (With What?)
or C just use the Gold Class Shampoo & Conditioner.

Looked thro' this thread and haven't noticed anything about getting them there wheels clean.

Not just the chemicals to use but getting access to all of the wheel.

I've just got a wheel brush from Halfords.

Sorry but forgot its name or price, it is yellow and about 18" long, but was very impressed with its performance.

Managed to get by all the brake bits and get a very clean wheel.

All I used with it was ordinary car shampoo as well.

Instead of pushing 'n' pulling maybe you should be twisting the muck away!

I've also heard that the Meguairs Wheel Brush handle is a tad fragile - can break off.

That's the one BASSA

I think that the whole thing is very fragile.

It's really only a wire bottle brush

But as long as you realise that and try and keep it staight it does a great job.

I've never seen anything else that can clean so thoroughly around the brakes.

Hi

After reading this thread I bought the Meguiar's Wash & Wax care kit, which comes with a applicator, also got the Wash Mitt + the Water Magnet, I did not realise until I went to pay that Halfords had a 3 for 2 offer so I got the Mitt for free. (£9.99). I then washed dried and waxed my new Civic, and it looks great.

Many thanks for the recommendations, would never had considered these products unless I read this thread. The Mitt & Magnet really make the job a whole lot easier.

Regards, Dave

PS Re the wax applicator pad, do I wash it or just leave it until next time?

I have tried washing - It doesn't seem to work so good so I chucked it and bought 3 new ones for about £3. Not so dear when you think how much the car cost and they are only needed every 4 to 8 weeks so 3 will last 3 to 6 months.

You can wash them but it's best to just keep them in a sealed container or ziplock bags.

You mean leave the product on them and seal them away?

Also just a question re the Megs stuff, do you think the wax from the 3 step clean/polish/wax can be used on its own, more frequently than the polish and cleaner?

My applicator pads, I simply wash out each time in washing up liquid, which removes all traces of any polish, wax, trim gel etc. then rinse thoroughly, let dry and store.

The 3rd step of Meguairs 3 step system is carnauba wax which can be applied once or even layered. Repeat applications following washing will do no harm. All it does is to provide protection and lock in the polish (stage 2) shine.

Following the rave reviews on this forum regarding Chemicals Guys Trim Gel, has anyone had experience of their 'Wheel Guard' product ?

Yeah just pop them in the bag with product on, but label them so you don't mix them up.
As Bassa said it's just a wax so you can re-apply after every wash.

This thread has made fascinating reading about members who like to keep their Civics in showroom condition. I too like to keep my Civic looking good and wash and shampoo it regularly, especially now that there is shedloads of grit on the roads. With powerwashing under the wheel arches I have taken the rubberised paint off in large pieces ( I've used this powerwasher on other cars I've owned without any problem).
Has anyone else had this problem ?

I would also like to recommend the Meguiar's 3-step Deep Cleaning system. If you guys check out my thread in Introduction, you will see the amazing shine it gives me. On another note, has anyone on here ever used Zaino? A couple buddies of mine use it and it is quite expensive, about $100 USD for the startup kit, but the shine is amazing. My buddy Zainoed his Taffeta White Civic about 3 months ago, and it STILL shines. All he does is a quick wash every weekend at a local spray car wash.
