NXT Gen vs Gold Class Meguiar's

Which one is best out of the above for the civic?

I can get both for about the same price so has anybody tried either and know which is best?

This includes the wax and shampoo.

I know that Type S Bournemouth was a bit disappointed by the NXT.

Gold Class paste wax was the first Meguiars product I ever bought. I picked it up whilst on holiday in Florida from a Wal-Mart as it wasn't widely available in the UK at the time. The smell is terrific! I much prefer NXT though (in liquid not paste).

However I prefer to use it on top of Klasse All-in-one or Car Lack as spoken about here - Klasse products

They are great products.

NXT is a cinch to put on and get off but it has more success if the surface is prepped well.

Also, a wee tip is to use a microfibre cloth to polish it off.

Oh great! Now I don't know which one to get!
It's the first time waxing my car; so ease might come over anything else; but I do want a good finish too, mainly protected rather than looks.

Both of the kits contain liquid wax; and an applicator, guess I should get a microfibre cloth to polish it off as well!

I use AutoGlym products for interior and exterior and although a little more expensive than most thay are great especailly the Extra gloss polish you put on after the Super resin polish.......comes up like glass.

The meguiars products are widely considered superior to the AutoGlym stuff. Empirically, I'd agree!

I just know a lot of people who have sworn by AutoGlym products, tried meg, and switched... wasn't a personal suggestion you should stop using something you're happy with

NXT is a fully synthetic product which should lighty clean/seal and wax in one , unlike Gold class which is more of a wax. The NXT is a synthetic product with no abrasives in, but it is a mild chemical cleaner with a high polymer content to improve the look / shine. The NXT is more of an all in one product than the gold class.
But in my humble opinion there are better products out there.
The Autoglym products are on about the same level as the Meg's, they are both ok but not the best.

Was a Megs fan but have recently tried the Klasse twins - All In One & Sealant Glaze.
The Sonus Acrylic Glantz & Spritz are compatible with it and ideal for routine use following Klasse treatment. It means you can re-apply the Sealant Glaze at any time without the need to start all over again with the All In One.
As with all products, preparation is key.

As a bonus, the All In One is great on glass. (inc. the house)

Now a Klasse fan.

One thing to remember about the Autoglym Super Resin Polish is that it does have an abrasive in it so although it will give you a nice shine I wouldn't recommend using it too regularly.

I've had a bad experience with the Extra Gloss stuff as well (the gold one) that I thought I would share with you. I used it a couple of times on my then brand new Rover (no comments please!). Shortly afterwards the front of the car started to stone chip really badly. I complained to Rover about the stone chipping and they agreed to respray the bonnet. So things were fine for a few months until I decided to use the EG protection again. You can guess what's coming. The stone chipping started again immediately after using the EG on my car.

I've never had it confirmed to me that it was the EG that caused the paint to go brittle but I wouldn't risk using it ever again.

Nobody is telling you what to or what not to use but giving their own recommendations. Everyone has their own favourites. I'm with Bassa on the Klasse stuff and it sounds like it would fit your requirements as it is really tough and lasts for ages. (It rained today and it was still beading on my car even though it's not been cleaned in over 3 weeks.)

I have used Autoglym's EG for many years with no problems, the lifeshine paint protection system they offer is also based on the EG formula. The abrasive content of SRP is very low and you would struggle to remove any clearcoat working sensibly.
I guess you just had some bad luck.

I can quite believe I had bad luck with the EGP (probably moreso bad luck with the Rover paint!) but I'm too scared to risk it again!

I'm not trying to come across all "anti Autoglym" I have had great results with the stuff but one last thing about the Super Resin Polish before I shut up is that I found it really dusty when you take it off. A nightmare if you have a black car. Also, it will stain your plastics if you get some on by accident. You don't have that problem with Meguiars or Klasse.

The main reason SRP dust's so much is that most people put too much product on, try using a penny size/ per panel. The staining is a bummer , the safe and easy way is to mask up all plastic trim before you start, but there are better products out there that are easier to apply and remove.
Like you said in your previous post it's only personal choice and the selections are endless.

The beauty of the Klasse All In One/Car-Lack68 (same product) is that they do not contain any abrasives so are clear coat safe. They can be reapplied as many times as necessary prior to using Klasse Sealant Glaze/Car-Lack Long Life Sealant (same products). No dust on buffing and no staining of plastic trim.
It is the Klasse Sealant Glaze/Car-Lack Long Life Sealant that needs some care when applying. Very thin application is the order of the day, then it removes easily. Too thick and it can be quite difficult to remove - this is where Sonus Acrylic Spritz, which is a compatible product, helps.
As many coats as you wish of the Sealant Glaze can be applied allowing at least 12 hours between for curing - some fanatics have been known to apply 10 or more layers! (labour of love)
Further applications of Sealant Glaze or some quick detailing using Sonus Acrylic Spritz or Glantz can be used thereafter as required - they are all compatible and can be used with each other in any order.
You cannot reapply Sealant Glaze if you have used something like a carnauba wax over the top of it.
It means you have to start all over again with the Klasse All In One/Car-Lack68

Thanks for that Bully.
My blueish silver is looking just great- a lovely deep wet look shine and so easy to maintain.

The shine responding Milanos, NHBs & the Vivid Blues are the colours that would really excel though.

Trouble is the Klasse has now made my Megs preps.obsolete - they will join the old Turtle Waxes, Simoniz's, Mer's etc.

Such is life!
