Winter Protection

I wondered if any one has used Collinite 476s Super Double Coat Wax on any of there cars for winter protection as I am intending to use this when I take delivery of my Civic next month.

I have been looking on the Detailngworld site and the views on that forum are that it is one of the best ways to protect the cars paintwork over the winter periods. www.detailingworld.co.uk/showthread.php?t=16268&highlight=collinite

This is one supplier that I have found.

Excellent durability and beading, and nice and easy to apply / remove.
But what are you putting under the wax?

Megs Deep Crystal Polish or Autoglym Super Resin Polish.
I may put a layer of Megs Gold Class wax ontop of the Collinite for a better shine. The Collinite would then provide the extra protection when the Gold Class wares off.

The Megs and AG srp are both polishes, i would get yourself a good sealant. I would not waste your time with the gold class, but if you must stick it under the Collinite.

Hope you men take as much trouble when it comes to washing dishes!

Serious question: If you have Silver Seal treatment etc, is there anything extra you need to do?

No need to do anything as they say paint protection systems will last for 3/5 years, with the annual top up and check.
But as the best sealant/wax combo's only give about 6 months protection i wouldn't believe a word they say.
Best thing is just use a quality wax as it will not remove any of the sealant from the Silver seal.
And the dishes are done by machine or women.

Hi Jobo, am I correct in thinking that this is some form of paint protector like Superguard? If so then I would use a quality car was such as meguiars and then finish with a quality polish that does not contain any form of abraisives as I think abraisive polishes would remove the Silver Seal treatment. Maybe someone will be able to give a definitive answere to this for you

I guess you meant ( a quality car) wax? Most polishes contain some form of abrasives or are chemical cleaners, which will remove the Silver seal or whatever paint protection system that has been applyed to the car.
You should never wax then polish as it will just remove the layer of wax you just put on.
The correct order is polish, glaze, seal and wax.
