wheel arch trim

Does anyone have a clue as to how many pounds, a replacement wheel arch trim costs, somehow, someway, my drivers side wheel arch trim and mud flap have broke, its the clip holding it to the car that has broke so it is not repairable either.

Cheers
Adrian

I got one to replace mine; it was about £30 I think, and REALLY easy to replace; just be careful in the fact that the mud flaps go over it, so these need removing first.

Hi itsrelfy,
Ref, mud flaps on front of car. I damaged mine and was able to buy the plastic poppers that hold the wheel arch on.
Search forum Mudflaps.

When I removed the rear wheel arch trims (very carefully) it was the trim that broke and not the clip (where it holds the clip!).

Come on Honda Engineers don't listen to the accountants - make the cheapest part the mechanical fuse!

Hi AL56

IM afraid mine was ripped apart somehow there is a big split in it, but for the life of me i cant think how it happened, the only idea i got is the local council car park and its stupidly steep ramps!!!

To be honest I think the Engineers are to blame as well for the weak clip mounts.

Cars have always been designed/engineered for a purpose and they sometimes achieve this, however they are not designed to be taken apart and reassembled once never mind frequently.

If you ever have a squeak or a rattle you should always assess whether the risk of more (and probably more annoying) squeaks and rattles after the attempted fix are worth it.

Barbs, tangs and clips on cars tend to be quick snap in-place devices to aid assembly and only operate in one direction. Careful disassembly is always required and a big bucket of spare clips!

This is something I need to look at. The front wheel-arch trim and sill trim are very loose at the joint where they meet. Probably a missing/broken clip, but it has not been knocked.

This is a problem I had after the dealer fixed door alignment on both sides. It turned out that the clips holding them in place were broken by the bodyshop, they in turn ordered up some clips to fix the trim back into place. I agree that the design of the trim fitting is very poor, if the Honda bodyshop can break them, then what chance has the rest of us got!

Willie,
Thanks for that, it won't surprise you to know that mine was recently in the body shop. Not another trip to the dealers, it must be in double figures by now.

Hi pcr,
Fortunately the visit for this should only last about 15 minutes, good luck!

My front wheel arch trim doesn't sit flush to the front wing - one for the dealer next week.

Thanks PCR for reminding me - I'd forgotten about it when it went in for service - the fault list was so long!!

I was wrong, turns out that the plastic sill is 4mm shorter on that side and therefore does not properly engage with the wheel arch trim.

Hi,

I have the same thing, the wheel arch liner came loose and snapped the trim. My local dealer fixed it all under warentee. Worth a try?
