Thumbs up Screen Treatment - Rainx Or ???

I have looked into this regarding the non rear screen wiper. The best I have come up with is a prduct called OMBRELLO which is available from Weathertec.co.uk

It isn't cheap but is claimed to last far longer than RainX.

I haven't tried it myself as I'm still awiting delivery!!!

Also - re alloy cleaning - I always use the industrial de-greaser as used by my local body shop / valet service. Its very strong - rotted the first plastic bottle I collected it in - but it works! Also VG for removing heavy smeer from windscreens - bur rinse off afterwards. Not sure I would use it with RainX or Ombrello tho!

Cheers

There are other "tests" on here somewhere, from that I used the Halfords own version of Rain-X (£5.99 but comes in 250ml instead of 200ml, and has an applicator cloth).
When I got the car from the dealer even at 70mph not much water would move from the rear screen. With the halfords stuff the water beads and rolls off on its own, and has all pretty much gone by the time the car is at 30mph. It helps on the side windows too.

I reckon that if Honda fitted a rear thingy then the Rain-Ex co. would probably go bust!

I've bunged that stuff on, and on and apart from having less cash in my wallet I haven't noticed ANY difference!

I just go out when it's dry now.

Saves a lot of problems.

Just seen the new Honda ad - 'More Forwards Please!'

Even they don't want you to go backwards because of the lack of visibility!

I washed the car on Sunday (first time, while my b/f was at work as he likes to do it )

I used the acid rain shampoo that was in the supaguard pack, I have noticed that the rain isn't sticking to any of the windows now its great especially for the rear screen

Comma for me

I used the Comma Nano Technology screen stuff from the day I got the car both on the front and rear screen.

After 9000 miles its starting to loose a little bit of the effect on the front but at 70 in a downpour I do not need to have the wipers on, its quite strange. However, not so impressed with the rear.

Bottle cost £14.99 from Halfords. Might try some Rain-X on the back to see it improves it.

I've been using rainx for the last few weeks on all windows and find it very good. I drove to Dublin the other day and as it was raining I decided to test it without wipers (it advises against this) I only had to put the wipers on intermittent when it started to bucket down.

Have been using the Halfords Product (Window clean and rain clear) on both rear and side windows - easy to use and very pleased with the results. Would defintately reccomend.

I used this at the weekend too and thought it was good. Only trouble was I dropped the bottle on the wood floor in our hall and the bottle shattered with the liquid going everywhere. Quickly mopped up what I could, the majority appeared to evaporate. Mrs Spud then mopped down the floor to find the water just dispered away from where it had spilt - so proves it works on more than just glass surfaces!!!

I have used both the Halfords own and RainX extensively on my last 3 cars and find the difference between the 2 is very little, In fact if you have a Costco card the RainX is cheaper than the Halfords.

As to how long it lasts, on rear and side windows it lasts well over 6 months, as long as it's applied properly to a properly cleaned windscreen, it's only the front where the wipers work that it wears off.

I have yet to apply it to the Civic, a job for this weekend but I think I'm only going to do the rear and side windows and leave the front.

They are both good products in my experience and should work fine on the rear window.
