errrrr.

In the hands of a pro - yes, fantstic results can be achieved

In the hands of a numpty like me - no, very much best avoided...

I'm sure you fall into the former category though Madax, and everything will be fine

I have an orbital polisher, but I daren't use it on the Civic, I have spent nearly a year gradually working on the paintwork, its better now than the day I collected it, it was full of spiders web scratches, after 3 goes in 10 months with the Megs full 3 step jobby it looks great, apart from the claw marks.

Be careful with the orbital polisher as others have said. You would be better off if it is a random orbital polisher as they do not generate as much heat and simulate a hand polish, only they are much quicker. see here:

Don't like the look of that!! Looks like an angle grinder I once used to cut a catflap in a metal door!

I can assure you it is not an angle grinder and it has the power/speed to remove paint defects, it is very hard almost impossible to burn through the clearcoat unless you try to. It is not a rotary polisher, which can be a handfull in unskilled hands.I guess you have a halfords type electric buffer which will struggle to remove wax let alone anything else as it does not have the power or the speed to break down any products. You would have been better off spending your cash on some quailty microfibers and some elbow grease to remove the wax. But if your happy with it that's all that matters.
