Personal choice I suppose and it does look quite nice, but only on a show car, not one for driving around.

No i use to tint for a living, the heat source is nominal else the trim arond the windows would melt. Its the fact that the only way to get the good quality film off is to use a special chemical on the glass that more or less is a mild acid.If this was to be used on the plastic lower window it would turn white. The good quality film is shrunk to fit using heat .But you can pick up a cheaper film thats just applied using soapy water, but is very thin and can tear on cleaning.

ive always had all my cars tinted all round and had the work carried out by pentagon, ive always had the back window as dark as allowed and the sides rear/fronts at the least amount.
also have the windscreen done, but that is a clear film.

makes the car look just that little bit nicer, but also from a safety/security point its a lot better.

if youve ever been in a reasonably bad crash you will know what i mean about glass potentially being a killer, this helps keep the glass intact. also makes it quite difficult for any thiefing scum to smash windows to gain access

Nope. I confirm that the F-RV lent to me by my dealer recently had rear tinted windows.

I also confirm the bleedin' obvious: tints restrict vision.

And I declare my prejudice: they also look Chav.

There. I said it.

they do a smoked tint, which is the next one up from legal. as long as the copper can see you then they wont bother you. if you get caught (like i did) be very nice and understanding and i got 14 days to remove my limo black from the front windows.

a friend just had his done and had the light smoke, still looks good and you can see him, and kills the glare you get off lights at night and is still safe as well.

I have a contact who can supply good quality tint film. It comes on a 30m roll and costs approx £50 per roll. I reckon you could do at least 5 cars with a full roll. If anybody wants to chip in to buy a roll & spread the cost, PM me with your details.

I've still to figure out how easy/difficult a job it's going to be to DIY fit. If anybody has any idea..... Let us all know!
