Question Dashboard Scratches

Coming back from my recent visit to the honda dealership I couldnt help but notice the badly scratched dashboards on a couple of demo cars I saw. They seem to be rather prone to scratching, has anyone else noticed this? as there must be a way to clean it without looking like its been scraped.

I've never tried it on the dash but have used it on light lenses and it works really well.

Halfords sell it.

The only recommendation I can make is don't clean the dashboard. If it gets dusty use a piece of silk or a soft paintbrush to give it a very gentle dust. I prefer the dusty look to the scratched look!

Does anyone know how much that bit of plastic is from Honda parts? Maybe worth just replacing it after two years of scrathing, as I've often found some plastic bits inside cars are stupidly cheap.

Hi Alix

I use a cloth that I bought for my spectacles. It seems to work very well.

I share this view, if it gets too unsightly then it is easy enough and cheap enough to replace. In the meantime, very light dusting as infrequently as possible does it for me.
If considering an altenative material, then for the EX you will need to think about the match with the satnav controls.

I've been using PC monitor anti static wipes - does the job and holds the dust off slightly longer - the perspex was scratched before I started using them tho so I can't tell you if they scratch.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. Sorry my first post is a rant, but my dashboard is absolutely driving me mad. I have already had the large piece of perspex replaced under warranty, but since a visit to the dealer to get my filler cap sorted, it is scratched yet again. There must be something we can do to get Honda to sort this out. We are all having the same problems it seems. The phrase 'not fit for purpose' springs to mind. Anyone contacted Honda to raise this?

I can not afford to get rid of it, and anyway I like it thats what is so damn annoying.

My insurance company said today that if the dashboard is that fragile it can not be touched then Honda should be doing a recall and replacing them all !!

Someone will have to pay the price for replacing the dash and it wont be me its a joke I know its just a car but its so frustrating.

do you have the car with the switch that you can adjust the headlights on a horizontal height position. IE HID lights for instance when you are towing a caravan??

Erm, I have a roller switch thingy that adjusts the lights but not sure about the switch type (I have an SE)!!

Charley Farley - its not all over, just one side in two places one is a long scratch that goes around a switch and the other is about half an inch in thickness and about two and half inches long almost like someone has swiped it with a scourer and in a certain light it looks like a long smear but it is actually scratches.
