Cleaning Question

Living in a gorund floor flat, i don't have an outside tap so i can't wash the car myself. Car wash, obviously is a no-no...would you say jet-washing it is ok? I will probably do this once week and then pay to have it valeted once a month...does this sound reasonable? I've never loved a car enough to want to clean it this much before!

Also, any tips on cleaning Blades?? Ta

I think you need to run in an out with buckets - it will keep you fit

I personally would never put a jet wash near mine for fear of damage to the paintwork but I no people do use them.

The brushes in the jet wash are usually left on the floor gathering all sorts of crap that you will be transfering onto your paint. They are just as bad a car washes.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have just been to Halfords and spent about 60quid on various cleaning bits so I'm gonna have a bash tomorrow. Sounds silly, but I've never properly handwashed a car before, been too lazy!

Have a look at http://www.detailingworld.com. Be warned you may end up buying lots of new car cleaning products . There is a lot of very good information on there about the best way to keep you car in tip-top condition.

Or

Wait till it rains and run outside with a bucket of car shampoo.

I did the same, Lozza, when I bought Cherry. I must've spent £60 or more down at Halfords (had a few trips when I've decided that there's just one more thing I need i.e. Rainx, silicon blade, microfibre cloths, karnuba wax, tyre dressing etc etc etc).

I never really used to bother about previous cars, always went to the car wash. I can honestly say I get such an enormous sense of satisfaction when Cherry is clean and shiney. In fact, yesterday morning, I got up and just stood and looked out the window at her!! I do worry about myself!

We all worry about you sweetheart I usually take mine to the jetwash, no issues re damage. Its powerful, but not enough to do any harm. Great for getting the alloys clean!

It is, but rather than a passion for Civic's they devote their time to detailing techniques.

Certainly made a difference to how my car looks by using information for various products and techniques. The only thing is it can become an obsession .

The guys on that site are mad!!! Some of them spend over £300 on wax and there's one guy who has spent about 10 hrs detailing his Focus and it's only half done!!!!

I mean I love cleaning my car but... Phew!

Why do you say that?

These people take absolute pride in their cars and always have them in tip-top condition. On some of the cars you would not see a swirl or scratch in their paintwork, as they have the knowledge and experience to remove them.

I understand that it is not everyone's cup of tea but imagine you were purchasing the exact car from someone on there or from someone that takes there car to a car wash. I will guarantee that you would buy the one from the person on Detailing World.

Can I ask why you got a Civic over all other cars in it's class?

That is nothing Paul Dalton from Miracle Detail (famous for cleaning the star's cars) spends £7000 on a pot of wax!!
