I know Meguiars Gold Class didn't do too well in the test but I've just polished my NHB as the sun was streaming in the front of the garage. This is the relection off the bonnet.

What process do you use to get such a deep shine? Do you use a wax first then the Meguiars Gold Class. I would love to get that affect on my Vivid Blue Darkside |

I had it Supagarded from new then I've given it a couple of coats of Meguiars Gold Class polish then a top up of Supagard Paintseal Cream. This has been repeated with the odd wipe over with Meguiars Quik Detailer for a 'quicky'. I now only apply Gold Class about every three months, or so now that the polish has built up.
Tempted to try that Turtle Wax Extra Gloss now though. Ps: Oh, I forgot, you need plenty of elbow grease as well! Last edited by allan40alt; 10th April 2007 at 22:20. |

Another thing to mention is that duration is just but one of the factors to evaluate a wax. Generally the best results are obtained with the least duration waxes. So there is an obvious trade off that you have to take into account here. |

The result I have with Meguiars Gold Class is good and I find it reasonably easy to apply and polish off, even if it doesn't last as long as some others. Seeing the Auto Express test results I thought I would ask if anyone had used the Turtle Wax Platinum Extra Gloss. Is that one you would consider? |

I use Poorboys EX-P as sealant (6 months) and then DP Max wax (a quality paste wax with carnauba.... duration 2-3 months depending on the weather, on how and how often you clean the car). Here some pictures of the car just waxed.
![]() ![]() I've never used Turtle Wax so I cannot speak but I have the idea that it is not a good brand. Not comparable with Megiars or Pinacle (no way). Probably more duration but this car deserves the best |

turtlewax platignum extra gloss
the extra gloss is just a top coat sealant i.e. seals in the wax finish underneath its not a polish
try it its good, its thin like water goes on just like polish/wax dead easy to wipe off |

Lozza, I tried the link again and it comes up with a fault. Have a look at my earlier post. I generally use Meguiars Gold Class polish. Use the supplied application sponge and slightly wet it first to help spread the polish better. If it goes on too thick it will be a devil to remove and you will get a lot of white dust. For an in-between quick going over use Meguiars Quik Detailer it's a 'mist and wipe', but you need some polish on the car first, then simply go over one panel at a time (not advisable to do that in hot sun though). There are several threads for you to read through as different people have tried many products. |

Swissol has a good write-up. Price is a bit on the high side though! Last edited by allan40alt; 11th April 2007 at 15:17. |
